Hi all,
Sorry for the radio (internet) silence! I'm currently in beautiful Redwood City, CA, having come out here for business purposes, but as soon as I get back to NH (Thursday) the mount will continue their transmutation from simple blocks of Al to RX7 swaybar hardware. There will be no interruption of the remaining machining until the run is done and at the anodizers. As soon as that's set, I'll collect the parts, add the heli-coils, and get the kits together for shipping.

When the sets are ready I'll be contacting everyone on the list and arranging for payment, so get those checkbooks and PP accounts ready! I don't accept payment in salt, Bitcoins, farthings, or pfennigs, but gold bullion will be considered.

Thanks once again,

David

David,
Do you (still) make a spacer for these? My steering arms slightly rub the tri-point bar arms with the suspension extended. I wouldn't mind lowering the bar (and the radiator mounts) slightly.

David, I think I'm going to take mounts only also. I can't remember but the RB brace should work with these correct?

Hi Peter,
Long time, no talk! Great to hear from you, and sure, I can supply spacers. They'll go between the underside of the radiator support plate and the swaybar strap clamp, so the radiator and mount plate will stay as they are.

Let me know how much you want to drop the bar. I can bring it back down to stock height, but prefer if possible to leave it higher (shorter spacer) to provide the benefits of less stress on the frame rails and better road debris clearance.

If you're in a hurry for them I can send you bare Al blocks and the longer 8mm screws that will be needed, if you have time I can add the blocks to the black anodize run so they'll match the rest of the mount. Email me at my widefoot (the regular symbol) comcast dot net account for faster response.

Hi Clacor,
As a single-piece bar, the ST doesn't use the 1.250" ID bronze bushings, as there's no way to get them on (I'm not even certain it's the right diameter). Use the supplied rubber bushings and strap clamps, unless you're really set on having a firmer/less friction inner mounting. If that's the case I could try to come up with something that would work, but it might not be worth the cost.

And thanks, you're on the list for mounts.

Hi Herblenny,
Great, I've got you down for a set.

The RB brace was the only "add on" support for the OEM swaybar mounts that I though worked well, but it's redundant when my Widefoot mounts are added. My usual recommendation is to sell it to someone who's still running stock mounts, saving the weight and getting a little cash back. If you really want to keep using it, I think what worked before is to flip it upside down and use longer screws (and maybe spacers?) to the steering rack. It's been so long since I've looked at that that I'll have to check my records to see what the deal was.

David, I'm also interested in using your mounts with RB's brace. If you can provide any additional information on making them work together, that would be great.

Thanks

Hi Chon,
I'm away from the shop ATM (Portland, OR), but will be back in NH on Thursday. I'll see if I can find my notes or pics from years ago when I had an answer for using both Widefoot mounts and the RB brace.

Hi Clacor,
I'm working on them currently (well, just stopped for the day). If you really need mounts asap perhaps you can get a used OEM set for as a stopgap, but I will be trying to get sets done as soon as I possibly can, using as many of the machines in the shop as makes sense. I do have to kludge a new coolant delivery system for my larger mill, but I'm using the smaller machine in the meantime. When that fix is done both machines will be on mount fab.

Thanks,
David

A general Widefoot Mount machining update

Hi all,
As I mentioned in my reply to Clacor, I'm working on the mounts, and am not accepting any new non-Widefoot work until these parts are done. I've got forty sets going, but due to some folks needing them ASAP I'm going to try to do them in two separate batches to speed delivery.

When the mount blocks go out for anodize I will post here to alert folks, when the mounts are back at my shop I'll start asking for payment, ideally mailed checks so Paypal doesn't take their bite, but if that's too inconvenient for people I'll do PP. Mounts may ship before the 3pc swaybar pillow block adapters, but I'll try to have them ready too. I'd like to go to a bonded-in-place bushing, that's going to take a little testing to make it reliable.

Anyway, as ever thanks for everyone's patience. Chips are being cut, holes being drilled, cutters and taps are doing their thing. Mounts are happening...
