ecu ??

I am fairly new to the rotary world(it's about time) and I have read several times about how important ecu changes are for any mods. The third gen I just bought came with two new turbos that are ported, polished, clipped and blue printed(supposedly 324ish horses). Can anyone tell me what sort of ecu mods I will need to perform so as not to destroy the motor? The turbos are originaly stock before all the work if that helps. And I am also curious if it is dangerous to anything to drive the car if the wastegates are stuck open? Any input is greatly appreciated.

You looking for a whole stand alone engine management system where you plug in a lap top and you can change things around? There are many different kind. Check the ECU forum.

There are also piggy back computers that control just fuel delivery. And example of this will be the Apexi SAFC. There is no way we can tell you what kind of computer you need unless we know what kind of mods you have, or plan of having in the near future. Also, we need to know what you plan on getting out of the car? If its a daily driver, you don't need to spend the money on a new computer. If you drag race or autocross or something, you need to explore the different types of computers, what they offer, and decide what is the best one for your applicaton.

Thanks for the reply. I do wish to keep the car as a daily driver, but with track tendencies. I already have the turbos and I'm just concerned about engine damage if I use the wrong ecu mod. Would the stock ecu control them enough? As far as piggy back, I've had problems with them in the past not having the range needed. Are they generally better for rx-7s? And one more thing, do you know if it's bad to drive with the waste gates open(obviously besides the power)? Thanks again

I think you can use the stock ECU if you run no more than 10 psi. Even with the modded turbos if your car is in good shape you SHOULD be safe and slightly more powerful. The wastegate open gives you low boost and safety. You are right to be concerned about your motor. Consult the more experienced members. Good luck.
