Where can i get a throttle body at and im not talking about a stock one. i been looking nothing doing, I've seen a couple threads on here about making your own, is that the only option or what. Allso time for the super ricer question. i been looking for S5 body parts but with no luck seems like every one in ohio only has S4 ****, so i got on EBAY! and found this body kit but im not so sure about it, is it close to the S5 body parts? I've only seen a couple pics of true S5's so help me out here's the link Body Kit For FC3S I want to know since all my S4 parts are crap where some one hit the front with a trailer. HELP ME!! !!EM PLEH

 

You don't need one. The stock throttle body is huge (it's 3x 35MM bores...or was that 45MM?) and it's progressive in design to open the primary ports before the secondary ports. You won't gain anything by swapping on another throttle body and the non-progressiveness of it will make light throttle driving a painful experience.

Based on the pictures it is designed for an S5. The trim matches the S5 style. It's nowhere near close to the stock S5 stuff though.

You should be able to buy S5 body parts via the for sale sections of this forum.

 

ITs alright but I got mine from Fatboy Garage, its the BMAGIC kit. I too got it from ebay, AITRacing makes them!!

So stock is answered, what about with the blower there and a just straight through flow design of a manifold...no runners at all...will at that point a bigger throttle body benefit me?

 

what about removing the front to butterfly plate in the throttle body is there any gain to be had with them gone or will it kill some poneys??

 

As you've noticed there are two sets of throttle control plates on your car. These are typically removed through the throttle body mod (howto at fc3spro.com).

On a turbo II there are some advantages to removing these as they slow throttle adjustment and cause slight turbulence and restriction in the throttle body. The key disadvantage is that if you have a bouncy foot your car will bog down before it will speed up with the air velocity changes (whole idea of double plates was to prevent this).

On an NA there is limited advantage to removing the secondary plates as after the engine is warm the are open all the way.

On an NA, all they do is keep you from flooring it while the engine is cold. When cold they are closed, and they are opened as the engine warms up.

 

Nope this kit fits almost perfect(I dont wanna hear nothing fits perfect). This kit was made for the S4 most are made for the S5. No I dont need a body shop to install it either, the fitament actually fits awesome so not much is needed to install. Just used 3m doublesided tape and self tapping screws. The kit goes install beneth the molding so no bodywork is needed. Holes are already drilled for screw. AITRacing made this kit so it was made to almost prefection for the S4

 

It's 3x45mm, which by my estimation should flow similar to a single 68mm throttle. It's a massive TB for the power most 13B's make, particularly NA's.

No, the double throttle system serves a totally different purpose to a choke.

 

So on a 200 HP Thunderbird when you replace the Throttle Body from a 65mm Single Bore to a 70-75 it adds around 15 RWHP...

 

okay. so not a good idea to remove them then. So where do i find a GOOD True Cold Air Intake that will fit that throttle body? allso Does any body know off hand or from EXP. a good place to send your motor to be rebuilt and ported? I've been looking around and seen a bunch of good place but i would like to hear from some one who's had the motor built by one of them.

 

Or is that just what the ad for the throttle body says? There are plenty of factory cars making well over 200HP with smaller throttle bodies...

 

As far as rebuilding goes, Kevin at www.rotaryresurrection.com does a good job for a great price. www.atkinsrotary.com is another good place.
As far as True CAI's go, there isn't one made just for our cars. Most people take a Prelude kit an mod it to fit, theres writeups for it if you search around.

No that's what the Thunderbirds usually add on the dyno with just the throttle body...TCCoA.com if you search for it you'll find tons of dyno's with them on there.

It's not up to me to back up a claim, whether you belive it or not doesn't make a difference as I know what they have done on Thunderbirds and not RX-7s

It's not. The point is there are no gains to be had from upgrading the stock TB unless you're making alot of power.
