Angry When Chipmunks Attack!!!

GOD DAMN IT...

I just got my FD (1995 BB Base Model)

It currently has a blown motor and is in dry storage.

I went to check on my car and noticed that there was chew marks on the car cover.

So I popped the hood and uncover a sleeping chipmunk, little bastard opened one eyes and slowly started moving for the door with a "If I move slow he wont see me..." kind of look on his little face, I literally slapped it off my motor.

After the little monster jetted out I found about 2 square feet of my car cover and the entire hood padding (Insulation) had been nicely shredded into what I call the most expensive chipmunk nest I have ever seen...

at least he didn't **** where he slept, he had the courtesy to walk over to the intake manifold and **** a little puddle on top (Bastard)

I have no idea how the chipmunk got into the storage area anyway, unless he got in last time I was there.

Is there any thing you could suggest that might repel animals away.

I feel stupid...

There is traps and poison, didn't seem to matter to a chipmunk.

I even put a rubber plug into the exhaust tips.

thats the crazy part, little guy ignored the poison and traps all together.

If you're going to war, just make sure that you finish the job. Nothing's more dangerous than a wounded chipmunk...

Sorry about your problem, but it does look a little funny, especially when you try to imagine the look on that chipmunk. He was probably relaxing, taking a nice nap, you know...then you came and probably half a sleep he thought that if he moved slow you won't see he was there. I had a similar problem, only with ford focus, whatever was under the hood made a big nest out of mud and sticks instead of the hood insulation thing, so it was just a big mess with no damage.

I've recently seen a car show on tv, the guy said that before you start your car in the morning, bang on the hood to make sure that any cats or I suppose chipmunks would have a chance to run away. lol (I wonder what the hood would look like in a month)

you can try moth *****...it works for mice....chipmunks can get into anything...believe it or not give them time and they chew through concrete...

i had 3 of them under my front porch, then got trapped and died...talk about a bad smell (like bad fish) stunk up the whole house ...had to cut through my concrete porch to get them out

just be lucky he made a nest and was just sleeping.I have a 1st gen race car in my garage(outside)that chipmunks thought it was a very good idea to store acorns through the headers right onto the exaust ports of the engine.Thank god I hand turn the engine every so often and when it wouldnt turn,i knew there was a problem.I wet vac'd about200-300 acorns,nd ended up having to open full bridge engine that has NEVER been tuned on.

Either which way, good luck with your chipmunk problems......Their relatives over at my house have seen the light long time ago.

I trap chipmunks with a "live trap" using peanut butter and peanuts for bait. They can't seem to resist that combination. Peanut butter works very well in mousetraps, also.

Chipmunks, mice, and other similar critters will chew and destroy stuff, just like everyone has said, if you don't eliminate them when they first get into the building. I seem like I'm constantly at war with critters!

^Exactly. An old-timer taught me the moth-ball trick years ago for an antique car I have that's stored for extended periods. Been effective so far. If you can find the moth-cakes, they last longer. I put them in an old bowl or tray. About 10 minutes of fresh air and all odor is gone.
Anybody that's had an animal croak and ferment anywhere near a car knows that poison can have serious side-affects.

a) I didn't say I killed chipmunks - I said I use a "live trap."
b) I suppose you don't mind having critters chew up your cars' wiring, build nests in intakes, etc?

not exactly.. you see: A bitch is referring to a dog. (I could a bit more detailed, but the rest is moot) And i believe he said it was a chipmunk.

That'd be some weird cross-breeding going on there.

just being facetious.

get it running strong.

I'm not sure I want to give up the twins yet...

Do every reliability mod that I have found.

Remove interior and lay heat/noise barrier and re-install interior

Replace wheel bearings (you'd be amazed hoe much this increases efficiency.)

2 piece eccentric shaft

Lightweight driveshaft

Volk TE37 19"

(I assume having a light weight drive train will increase HP/ torque/ response efficiency.)

Power steering cooler

Transmission cooler

I want this car to maintain its class, I do not want a race car (I would only do that to a 93)

Basically I do not have a HP goal, but I want to have this car running as strong as it can without losing any performance.

I understand some modifications may increase or decrease HP, but eventually by the time I'm done it will probably balance out

Instead of using brute force with HP, I think I'll be very happy with a HP efficient FD.

Any suggestions?
