Anybody in the low 11's or even 10's on stock twins? Just wanted to know if it's possible. Thanks.

that is a rarity.

a race driver...an amazingly well tuned car. it just wont happen with the average joe.

Id say 12s is a more realistic number for most of us.

Search is turned off.

10.98 @ 122.x mph, Kevin Wyum, 1996. I watched it on video at a friend's house, and Kevin's car made the Buick GN-T in the next lane look a little sick. Stock engine, stock turbos, non-sequential, all mods, 17 psi on 110 octane, I believe.

hey jim, when i went to MN to buy kevin tan's car he told me that wyum had made a few 10 sec runs in the previous month, with the 'ultimate twin set-up' and a half bridge motor built by M2. Tan told me that wyum was really excited about the 10sec passes (as if this was his first). I've been on the big list since 96 or so and i dont remember wyum ever running a 10. If wyum ran 10's on stock turbos AND stock motor, then why did evrybody make such a big deal about brooks car running that 11.4? when brooks got that feature in TURBO it was after '96, and he was given the title of fastest car on stock twins. nobody, not even wyum disputed this. (i think wyum even flew to FL. to tune brooks' car) I could be wrong though, I know you were a lot closer to wyum and tan than I was.

Whats up with wyum anyway? if he's still driving that S6, tell him to sell me his FD.

ANYWAYS, the fastest time I know of on stock twins was Anthony from T&R Racing with an 11.1. completely stock twins w/ 98K on them, ported motor, average joe driver. and the car was a daily driver!!

come on jim, stock motor and turbos running 10's back in 96?? i think more people would have remembered that.

so all these guys with ported motors and singles running mid 11's should just pack it in then huh?

You have to remember that Kevin was always pretty quiet about what he was doing. His car got early coverage in Turbo magazine, but after that, it might as well have disappeared, even though he and Jeff Littrell placed very respectably in the 1996 One Lap. If Trev hadn't been talking constantly about Kevin's big twin conversion, I don't think it would have been common knowledge either.

If you doubt, ask Kevin directly. I'm sure he was happy about running a few 10 second passes with the new setup, but I think you'll find that the configuration was "problematic" at first, and that's why it dropped off the radar fairly quickly. Notice that he's been very, very quiet about his car and since Trev's passing, no one has been sharing any information.

you're right about no one sharing any info since Trev has been gone, but I got the impresion from Tan that wyum had kinda forgotten about the car and "grew up" Tan told me that wyum was driving a S6 that he thought was 'peppy', and he had kinda lost intrest in the whole FD thing until he got embarassed by a syclone in the S6. after the syclone beat him on the highway, he decided to take the FD out of hybernation and make a few passes in it.

I called wyum a week after I got back from MN to ask if he would make me a set of ASP head lights, (yes, i like them) he offered to sell me the set off of his car for $800 (i suspect he has developed a drug habbit) a week later he told me he sold his set to some auto cross or road race guy on the list. a guy who appreciates a car wouldn't sell parts off of it, unless he had some serious $$ problems (dont think so) or he just didn't care about the car anymore.

on the phone he didn't sound enthusiastic at all about the FD, and he asked me stuff like "whats going on in the rotary world nowadays" I think that when he stoped selling ICs, he droped off the face of the rotary planet.

werent you and wyum pretty close Jim? you should give him a call and find out whats going on with his car. mabye brian at M2 knows something...... I really want his car if an old friend of his can persuade him to sell (*cough cough* hint hint) that would be great
