Spitting Flames for Dummies (Guide)

Anybody with enough knowledge or experience want to break how to turn the 7 into a fire breathing dragon. A simple explanation would be nice. My current mod's are HKS exhuast, HKS dp, Apexi intake. It may sound silly but I would like to spit flames, I know that the Power FC will most likely be part of the equation. Thanks!

I do want to spit flames!!!! I just finished watching a Rev Speed vid and BMI Vol. 21 and almost every single FD in those films (over 10 diff FD's) spit flames. Is it possible with the resonated cat?? I'm purchasing a Power FC and I'm tempted to get rid of the midpipe but there is a chance of boost spike.

Put on your flame suit, because this thread is going to get ugly really quick. Your goal shouldn't be to shoot flames, it should be to have a well running, well tuned FD, whose byproduct is belching flames out of the *** end. Stop being an initial-d watching noob and start having goals that aren't assinine.

Flames come from poor tuning. Not poor tuning in the sense of performance, but poor tuning in that the maps are not optimized in all areas. So when you lift your foot off the throttle, a whole bunch of extra fuel is still being injected, and it afterburns in the exhaust piping.

If you have no cats and a high-flowing muffler, the flames will be visible out the tail pipe. Unlike dragsters running with 12" of exhaust pipe, there is no reason whatsoever to allow this condition to continue.

It might look cool, but at it's heart is plain old ricer laziness. The japanese tuners might be doing it on purpose, but then again nobody said drifting made any sense either. I'm not sure of anyone who finds it cool outside the street-ricer crowd.

and look around, usually people who TRY to spit flames wind up melting their bumper because doing it purposefully is not a good thing.

This thread reminds me of those commercials “ no one says they want to be a junkie when they grow up”

“no one wants to be a ricer when they grow up either” Spitting flames is a byproduct of a strait exhaust, and unburnt fuel. Typically happens when you shift gears, or get off the throttle from WOT. The computer over compensates a bit and during the timing transition you get some flameage. Sure it looks cool, but it’s a nice way to get pulled over fast. Also doing it just to look cool is just plain stupid.

I love the fact that my haltech is tuned right and I can lay down 465 and don’t spit one stinking flame.
