Well, I know in USA, we get the R1, R2, Touring, base/PEP. In Japan, they have the Type S, Type R, Type X Touring, bathurst X, Type RZ Spirit R, etc...everything. The Special Edition you're referring too may be one of these just under "Special Edition" name. I'm guessing??? You're in the UK so yah, the naming convention may be different. I would look into a UK RX7 factory brochure and see if you can get ahold of one and let us all know.

The only FD I can think worth more is the Spirit R, and that's just only because of the last production run and has the best offering Mazda gave for the FDs...next to the Type RZ (IMHO).

I have a 2000 RS Special Edition. Im not sure what it means. i was asking a friend the same thing and we came to the conclusion that its probably along the lines of a couple "extra" options from the factory.

The majority of the JDM cars (99.998%) have "special edition" written in the door jam regardless of what type it is. Nothing special im afriad.

Nahh sorry to burst your bubble mate. Just leave the "special edition" to pub talk b.s. with your non-rx owning mates!

Apart from the almighty spirit r rx7 I believe the RZ model was the most optioned out JDM rx7 you could get. Mind you the touring automatic model seemed to be well kitted out with leather, sunroof etc.

USDM and JDM models arnt of the same spec, so unfortunately you might find some discrepancies on this board.

This is one that comes up ALL the time - and, yes, the answer is a 'bubble burster'.

If you look a little closer at that label, you should realise that the words 'special edition' are, in fact, a heading - not a listing. If it was a special edition there would be something written UNDER the heading.
