Question on tuning Power FC

I was just curious as to what all is involved in tuning a power fc with or without the datalogit software. How difficult is it to tune your car to not blow the engine. It seems like all I hear is that if an unexperienced person tunes it (most "speed" shops that claim they can) you'll be buying yourself a new engine. Is it that hard to tune one for moderate power, something like the power the pettit ecu's are capable of? Thanks for any help, Evan

why didnt you just get the pettit ecu if thats all you want to tune to? and dont try tuning it yourself. just like someone told me in a conversation: "i bought that datalogit and then i realized im not going to tune this fuc@ing thing myself, what was i thinking"

anyway, i dont reccomend you take it to someone who hasnt tuned rx7's before...

I definately don't want to tune it myself, I was just wondering as to what is involved in the tuning. The main reason for wanting a power fc compared to the pettit ECU is the room for more modifications and/or more power. As of now, I would only want the power of a pettit ECU, but, later when I'll eventually have a little more money, I'd want more than that.

the fc is popular because of price and ease of install and tuning. there is a ton of support for it if you look some and lots of maps to download and compare. find a reputable map with your mods on it load it and take it to a wide band dyno and let us know how it turns out. good luck. most engine disasters are caused by timming mistakes
