I was wondering if any of you have polished your turbo manifolds for better air flow, and if so what result did you see. I decided to do this while my TO4S was off the car and was able to make the passages MUCH smoother than the original rough cast iron. I was also wondering how this would effect mu tuning. I am tuned very rich at the moment, so I am wondering if it will change much once I put the turbo back on.

Any before and after pictures?
My manifold is SS, so I doubt it would make much of a difference for me.
I did however have the manifold jet-hot coated for the thermal properties and it supposedly makes a smoother passage for the air to move.
I've thought about cleaning up the turbine side of my turbo to some extent, but wouldn't imagine it would make much of a difference.

i would do it if havent drive one of my fren's car and got busted for a fix-it ticket.. cuz the whole freakin underhood was polished. pig said" wow i m sure u need sum smog check."

Uhh thanks for the info, R629.

Anyways, I have done some light grinding on my y-pipe passages to remove the press-fit nipple flanges that stick into the airpath. It's kind of hard to get a full grinding/polishing tool through the pipes but I imagine a flex-cable might work great. It definitely won't hurt.

I don't have any before pics, but if you can imagine rough concrete texture before and smooth polished with a grinding wheel and 120 grade sangpaper after. It took me about 6 hours to get perfect. I am sure it will make some sort of difference.

How did you get the grinding wheel in there? Cable-drive?

The flex-shaft was my Dremel's first bolt-on mod!

I hardly ever remove it now.
