Non-seq question

I tried asking in a thread on the how to do pics but I dont think anyone seen. Doing poor man non-seq can I just wire open the turbo door and the ypipe door without removing all the vac lines and all that crap? I plan to go back to sequential and dont want to remove all that unless I have to. Thanks

You'll also need to do something with the CRV so it doesn't vent boost below 4500.

wow is all I can say, I got it all running in non-seq. Lag on my large street port is 4.5k before i see boost, but when it comes on its instant. 0 to 12lbs instantly. It spins top of first, into second. Very abrupt power. Cons: exhaust sounds like can of bees until boost comes on.

NS should give a nice, gradual build-up. Sudden boost at 4500 sounds like part of the sequential system is still active. What exactly did you change?

I disconnected the ypipe door so it will not close/open, took the rod off the tca and wired it open. Thats pretty much it. I get some gradual boost in the form of maybe 5psi at 4k in the high gears.

Tee the CRV's vacuum line into the ABV line. You currently have a massive boost leak through the CRV and back to the airbox below 4500.

I forgot to add I had the crv valve vacuum line just capped, crv still in car but I was under the assumption that it stayed close without vacuum/boost. Am I wrong? If so Ill just go find a cap of somesort and cap off the crv, thanks again guys.

tee the crv and the abv together.....or just run a line from each to the uim. the crv will leek boost if you just cap it. just like Eggie said earlier.

yes - they both look the same, but have different functions. if they both dont have a vaccum/boost source they will leak pressure.

Just got in from a drive.. Boost comes on full by 3500 now, got 5psi at 3k. Its very nice, only thing that concerns me is as it comes on, it flights up to 12-14psi then settles back down. I guess with the m2 ecu it should be just fine, im just overly cautious I guess..

You're not being overly cautious, get a boost controller.

Sounds good. BTW, what are your related mods (intake, exhaust, etc.)?

Very Large streetport, full turboback exhaust *have a 3 to 2.5 to 3" midpipe to deal with creep until I finally breakdown and go single or do something else, M2 Stage 3 unlimited ecu, intake, large m2 SMIC

Honestly, the sequential was very nice because I enjoy alot of spirited driving, the non sequential is pretty ball-less from a dig without dumping the clutch, something the sequential was great at. I have a friend with a pretty heavy mod'd t2 and I walk away from him because of my spool speed, even though his topend is very nice. I dont know, the non-seq feels much more like a large single, but I have a feeling its the same speed/power as nonseq in the top end, it just feels more powerful because it comes on all at once opposed to smooth from the start. Reguardless, not having boost issues due to 900 vac lines is nice

Ok, I'm doing the poor mans non-sequential mod to my car (basically until I build enough patience to try to diagnose the problem with my secondary boost not coming online). I just took off the rod for the turbo control actuator to the turbo flapper door...now my only problem is which way is the flapper door in open position? Does it go towards the front on the car or the towards the rear of the car?
Here is a pic of what im talking about, the front on the car is towards the right of the photos.
