Question FD ECU programming...

I thought I'd ask in this forum since it seems the most logical. Sure we have a few aftermarket ECUs available for the FD but why doesn't anyone program their own ECU? Why doesn't anyone just program or explore the EEPROM on their computer...I think there's a lot of room for improvement on the stock ECU without upgrading to a new ECU. I'm not saying that this would be a better modification than buying a new ECU but it would be a lot cheaper and work well for people who are in between a stock ECU and an aftermarket one...

yeah mahjik, thanks for the link - sometimes I don't know how you do it...or even if you're human - I think you're just an advanced robot built by mazda :P I searched but got over 500 results so that wasn't working out for me. Thanks
