cars leaking oil....need help.

jus realized my cars leaking oil...but the oil level seems fine, dipstick shows it still full...is ther any other place in the car that uses motor oil? like the transmission? b/c im unsure where its leakin from but ther is oil leaking..its all over my driveway.... and what type of oil should we use...i used 10 -30..someone told me that i should use thicker oil...can this be a reason of the leaking?

fd's are notorious for leaking oil. common place would be the oil pan. other places would be rear seal, front cover gasket, oil filler neck, oil metering pump (most likely lines), and uMmm oil feed line and many more. break out the credit card and bring it to a shop. for your oil issue i would use 20 50. but i cant really tell you where you are leaking from, for you need to describe more info.

you can buy some UV additive and then use the special black light/glasses combo to find exactly where its leaking from.

Mine leaks too. I think it's the oil pan seal because it will drip some even long after the car has sat. Also, the oil drips are visible around the inside of the engine mounting cross memebers (not sure what they are really called be the the oil pan hangs through the middle of them, it). It's hard to tell also because the under side of the car is so dirty that it all tooks like oil so I would need to really clean well to try and find the source. As for taking to a dealer, I would really work hard first to find it yourself because they might not even find it but you'll still have to pay!

Spray everything down with carb cleaner and dry it off.

Run it for a while and look for the highest spot that's wet with oil.

your best bet is to bring it to www.A-Spetuning.com and have them check it out. they are in Addison too.

You can leak a little oil and the level not drop. These cars can get enough gas blowbye into the oil to keep the level from dropping

didn't realize everyone had this problem..but its a LOT of oil...my entire driveway is covered with oil..and im the only one who parks on the driveway..

i took it to aspec for another problem and the guy noticed the oil leak as well, he didnt go much into detail but jus told me it was leakin from the top somewhere near my oil filter... ill prolly take it again and replace the gaskets..most likely its that...thanks for the advice(s)..

It could be the 2 O-rings underneath the oil filter pedestal.

i think it is deffinately your oil pan ....the original seal normally goes bad around the engine mounts and rear of the engine...so if you have the ***** pull your engine and redo the seal without a gasket...make sure you scrape off all the old sealant and gasket....then wait 24 hours and reseal it all...if you dont do it yourself be prepared to pay some MONEY to have it done...well good luck either way...
