I currently own a '93 RX-7 which, due to a prolonged illness, has been in dry dock in an unheated garage for the past three years. The car ran great when I put her away and only has 38K original miles. It hasn't been started (or even cranked) while in storage. I've heard rumors that there are certain important considerations/procedures to
follow when re-commissioning a rotary engine. I seem to recall some process for "conditioning" the seals by adding some sort of fluid(?) and rolling the car back and forth to re-lube the engine's internals. Is there any truth to this? If so, just what exactly am I supposed to do? Any other concerns that I should be aware of???

wow id like to find that storage place!

Id start it up let it idle for 15 minutes. Then drive it around the block very slowly for about 15 minutes. Come home change the oil, coolant and spark plugs. Then dont go crazy boosting the car right away. Try to do a semi breakin of the motor just wait about 100 miles before driving it like normal. Itll be fine no worries

I would NOT just start it up and idle it.

I would pull the circuit opening relay(it's a PITA, but it stops the injectors) That's in the engine bay in the box by the drivers side strut tower

That will let you crank it to get some oil back up in the e-shaft and bearings without starting or flooding the engine

Then crank it for a few minutes in 5-10 second bursts, like 5-10 on, then 20 off, that way you don't melt the starter. Might be good to have a battery charger, it's probably dead/bad.

Then start it and idle it up to temp, drive a few and change oil like recominded in previous post.

A little oil in the spark plug holes wouldn't hurt if it was having a hard time starting, maybe even do that before you crank it, just a skirt in each rotor, so lubricate that stuff.
