Battery cable direct to starter question
I'm doing the battery relocation to the rear PS bin. I read about directly connecting the starter to the battery from hear but no one says exactly how I should go about this. The say they that its a good thing to do but then they say "i wouldnt run my power cable under my car where it could get cut and ground out." So i was wondering if anyone has done this and how i should do it. I was thinking run dirctly from my starter to my circut breaker to my battery then from my start to my other electrical stuff in the front by the fuses. Let me know thanx

I really don't know why people want to run battery cable under the car. When reloacting a battery you have to remove most of the interior anyway to get to the bins, so what not run the cable while you are there? There is also a convenient line to the engine bay from the interior so no drilling is required.

I dont really want to go underneath my car but i also want a good/direct connection to the starter but i really dont want to drill unnecessary holes.. How is your relocation going upon start up?

i run my battery in the passenger side bin in my FC and run the cable directly to my starter then forward to power the accessories off the original power wire.
run a 120A circuit breaker near the battery and run the battery cable either under the carpet in the car or under the car itself to the starter. shield the wire with some corregated wire tubing and then secure it with loop clamps to the chassis so it won't move around much. the circuit breaker will protect the circuit if it does happen to ground out somewhere and keep the wire from burning up the car.
use a 2gauge wire at minimum for that wire since it will need less resistance as it will be a bit longer than the OEM wire otherwise the wire will get warm and cranking speed will suffer.

How is start up on your car? Do you think that there is a significant difference directly connecting the starter to the battery than to the accessory then to the starter???

I ran my battery cable through the storge bin area, brought it out near the back of the driver's seat and drilled a hole into the tunnel I ran the cable through a rubber grommet to the starter. Then, I sealed the grommet opening with some "Right Stuff". Works great.

Edit: One last though. When I was doing some work on my car a few years back I noticed the cable terminal connected to the starter motor was oxidized. I cleaned it off and the starter worked a lot better. Maybe it's not the best route to power the ecu and other critical equipment

Hey man, if this is who I think it is, you got my number today from Rotary Inspired. My relocation is done this way, with the positive cable running directly to the battery. Give me a call if you wanna check it out or something tomorrow.
