is this turbo any good?

ok...not too sharp when it comes to turbos.... so, is this one any good? or is it a cheapo? i already have a t4 manifold...

its either this or a bnr upgrade....which is better in your opinion?

Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about, so Viper, I would discredit what he just said entirely...

For a turbo that big (GT45) you would need at LEAST 3" intercooler piping, as that thing would push a LOT of air..

And in terms of quality, I would go with a BNR. A real Garrett GT45 goes for around $1700+...so, for something THAT CHEAP, It's probably about the quality of SS Auto Chrome (Which, isn't SSAC MasterPower for turbos..?)

practice what you preach.

Nothing wrong with master power turbos. Lots of people running them. The turbo mustang boys swear by them. www.turbomustangs.com

This turbo does not have the same specs as a GT45, but its big... unless you have a nice size port, its too big. I run a mp t70 and i love it.

SSAC used to buy front covers from MP... they are not related. I have seen ssac include a MP turbo in a turbo kit package for some cars on ebay before tho.

Rx7store.net sells MP turbos IIRC

do a search for master gt45

here is a good post from a thread that came up.

(My Turbonetics T-66 had a .55 cover)
the inlet is 4 1/2
with a bigger I mean BIGGER then Q trim! Turbine wheel
bigger then HKS KAI exhaust wheel
(I have specs of the KAI)
Has a anti-surge inlet which will add to lag
I've read doing a search about all the bitching how the HKS T51 KAI Turbo is too big and how it is really laggi(non BB)(only soul , resource and sakudo like the turbo)
the KAI was a 94.0 Major while the so called gimmic name "GT45" has a 97.0 Major compressor wheel

The Kai has 71.4 Turbine inducer
the "master Power GT45" has a 77.5mm Inducer exhaust wheel
or in Inches
-Q Trim Turbine Wheel
Exducer...2.693"
Major...3.111"

-Turbo GT45 Turbine wheel
Exducer...3.05
Major...3.46

Funny how you single turbo guys are
You want anything from the 60-1 thru the T-76
Yet post after post says you will have to run 20PSI+ to be in a large turbo's efficency range
yet most of you will only run 12-15PSI on the street

First of all..."You get what you paid for."
Forget whatever model designations these bitches use, cause it doesn't equate to what Garrett nor Turbonetics uses.
They use well-known turbo models to trick you into thinking the size is comparable - they are NOT.

Second, I wouldn't touch those things with a ten foot pole.
Cheap *** Made-In-(insert your favorite SE Asian country here) crap with ZERO R&D, so they just pump out poorly made replicas in bulk and flood the market.

If you want to do your own research, there are TONS of threads in the Single Turbo section...

SSAC and master power are 2 different indentities. Master Power has been around 30 years and is in Brazil, not asia. Their parts are every bit the quality of the other brands.

you get what you pay for is overly used, i've seen plenty of expensive items/services that were pure **** to know better on both sides of the coin.

if i start charging double for my rebuilds does it make them better? no.

there is obviously a floor which the phrase means but who knows where that floor is is the question.

i completely agree........ i did a whole lot of research since this post, and have found that master power is a very widely used turbo company, and they make quality parts.... and just because they dont inflate their prices to astronomical limits because of their name..doesnt make them crap!

well, after some investigating, i decided not to get that particular turbo..... it was just too big for the power i want.... so i bought this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Maste...spagenameZWDVW

i know the hot side is too small... i am in the process of getting either a .96 or a 1.00 turbine housing...

that has no hot side, the numbers they list are for the cold side(most are .60 a/r), that is only 1/3 of a turbo you still nee the center cartridge and the hotside(stock is .84a/r iirc, most people recommend going to a 1.00 or larger for spooling and HP numbers.

edit: nm, i see the turbine specs, yeah it is way too small.

why not? 90% of my car was built off of purchases off of ebay and i am VERY happy with the car and the performance. if you don't know what you are looking for i can see this being a problem but there is nothing wrong with buying off of ebay. feel lucky i didn't fly off the handle like i usually do..

i have heard many more horror stories of purchasing from online stores than i have heard from ebay.

wow! there was absolutely no thought put into that statement! for a knowledgable person, purchasing parts off of ebay is just as safe/smart/easy as purchasing it from anywhere else! you just have to know what your buying! there are noobs who see "khs style" and think its genuine hks.....you just have to research the product! but ebay sells greddy, hks, cusco...etc...... and if you play your cards right, you can get a much better deal from there than anywhere..... i dont know about you, but i like saving money!

plus there arent too many websites that sell new/used products from people from all over the world... before we would have to go through a "middle-man" to get some JDM products..and the middle man would rack up the price for a quick profit..... now we can purchase the product directly from the person, and weed out the middle man!

there is nothing wrong w/ ebay!
