suction noise when rad cap removed cold

I've a coolant loss / add coolant buzzer problem on the '89 NA vert and I've read just about every thread on that subject ( wow , a lot) for the last week ... but i just don't want to accept yet that my coolant seals are gone.

here's what i know ... rad was cool and hot in parts figured it was bad and replaced with new aluminum Koyo , new mazda thermostat, new 0.9 mazda bar rad cap. I have tried repeatedly to bleed system thinking just air bubbles are the problem . Its better now but still have to add about a half pint of coolant in the morning and add coolant buzzer will go off intermittently after driving for over an hour or two .

when i open the rad cap cold (in the morning) I hear a suction noise and no coolant is at the rad neck ... overflow bottle is above full but not overflowing ...... where is that coolant going ... any chance the overflow lines are bad ? .... I don't think the coolant should disappear from the neck when the pressure released

other observations .... a little white smoke on cold startup but not bad and goes away prettty quick ... no coolant on pavement under car ..... car doesn't overheat but guage stays a little past half way. when rad is full and car idling, coolant in rad spills out a bit , but when reved coolant level drops below neck .... no bubbles ecept every once in a while a big one ..... oil on dipstick looks fine ..... exhaust smells like exhaust ( don't think its sweet smelling )

help ? .... or rebuild time ?

try replacing the radiator cap. sometimes the cap wont allow the radiator to pull the anti-freeze back into the radiator after cool down. have you knowticed more coolant in the overflow bottle lately? but i think that would be the first stop i would try.
