Lowest mile RX-7 out there?
Long time since I've been on here but I'm trying to get back started on something I started messing with in high school. I have two 7's given to me by my grandparents. One a wrecked 84, not going to come back from the dead.(My grandfather said I could have it before he passed away) The other a repaired 83 that I'm trying to restore and drive eventually with parts from the other. (My grandmother finally let go of this one after I promised her she could drive it when it was driveable again, haha)
Which brings me to my question....who has or knows of the lowest mile 7 out there?
The 83 I'm starting to work on again has a 1984 inspection sticker on the window. After I pulled it out of its resting place the other morning. I sat inside it an noticed something......it has 550 miles on it.

A "repaired" 83 with 550 miles on it that doesn't run and is a "rolling chassis"? Sorry, but somethings not adding up in my brain. Whats the story on this car?
I know of a couple cars in the past 4-5 years that surfaced in the 4-6K mile territory, but none under 1000K that I know of. It would really need to be a mint, flawless car to support that kind of mileage. Got pics?

It's flawless by no means, and im not talking about a car being mint condition, show shine, ready to go on the auction block. I didnt say who has the most valuable, truly aw-inspiring, lowest mile 7 out there, lol. I was just talking about low mileage cars.
I dont know the backstory on it, and i cant really ask unless i could speak to spirits. Lol....but i know my grandfather used to buy them and fix them and sell them. This one he had never gotten around to. I believe it may have gotten into a severe fender bender or something and he bought it. It has no fenders or bumper on it. Also it's not a rolling chassis, I had put that when I was 17, thinking there was nothing in it, but after inspection the other day it still has the original motor and tranny in it. I'm going to start trying to bring it back to its original condition soon.

Here is one of the lowest mileage SAs I have ever seen. 6700mi. As new it seems. Dealer in East was asking $21,000 for it in Apr of 2011. It disappeared after that so presumed sold. There have been others in this mileage range but this is the nicest I have seen…and by far the most expensive. Similar cars went in the range of $6900-13,000 depending on specs (color, condition, equipment, model) and date-of-sale.

Sounds like for a minimum investment, you can have an outstanding car. I'm sure that you'd have no problem solicing parts and help from members here who would be excited to also see this car restored to its former glory. You should post up some pictures and want list of parts. Maybe start a build thread to follow along with and get help along the way.

No hard feelings brother, I understand what you were getting at. The interior is in pretty immaculate shape. There is some dust here and there but the inside hasn't seen any sun in a long time because it has been covered. There are no cracks, blemishes, or stains anywhere that I can find. I honestly expected the headliner to be falling but it looks like it was just put up there yesterday. The 84's interior also looks this good, I believe it has 21, xxx miles on it
I will post a build thread soon when I get it into position to work on it.....I am in the midst of remodeling the house that the car sits at. As soon as I get moved in I'm going to start getting this thing back to its former glory.
Stu- That SA looks amazing! The paint on it looks like glass, I'm sure it went for a pretty penny. It's crazy how good something can look after 30+ years.

The headliners in these cars don't fall, because they're not glued in place - stretched & gusseted. Only way they fall is if they get torn.
Would love to see you do a build thread with many pix on this project; a 500-mile accident car that spent the last 30 years in a 'coma' to be brought back from the dead, that's a story worth telling!

Most definitely!.....I hope to start on it soon after I get moved and finish my truck; an 82 Toyota pickup. I'm on the last stretch of a frame swap after mine cracked a few months ago. A few floor pan patches and putting it all back together and it's done.
I will be posting a build thread as soon as I start on it. I will need a lot of help from you rotor heads.

About a year prior to that, the car first popped up on eBay, located only about an hour from where I live. I contacted the seller who bought the car new and was asking a firm 15K for it. It hadn't left the garage for a couple of decades. I suggested to invest a little time and money to get it back on the road and maybe keep it. Even offered to help him as he was more of an educated type as opposed to a hands on guy.
He was a bit of a odd duck and told me he bought the car to purposely hoard it away and re sell 30yrs down the road to someone who could not afford one when new, but would now be able to have the means to full fill the car dream of their youth. It was like he just looked around and decided that an RX-7 would be a good choice to do this with!
Anyway, I arranged to go have a look at it because I wanted to get some pictures and a first hand look at this time capsule, but before I made time to get there he sold it. Said he got his full 15K and I believed him. Said some guy from NY bought it because the guys brother had his own immiculate RX-7 and he wanted to show him up. So it was gone and I missed it and a year later Stu send me this link to this car for sale for 21K. I still have the ebay ad and the cars VIN and could confirm that this was indeed the same car. Now you know the rest of the story. I'm waiting to see where this car surfaces next......

I'm sure it will pop up again. And it will most likely continue to bounce around till someone who really loves it gets ahold of it. I hope that person gets it. There are two types of car guy; the ones who just buy for show, let it sit around in a garage, and then sell it when it gets boring. Then the ones who really love it, take it on a nice weekend ride often, and keep it for a very long time. I'd rather see it gain a few miles than sit under a cover. Such a beautiful car.

There's a black 84 GSL for sale with beautiful red leather near Detroit with a little over 5k miles. The guy advertises it as like new. It was not as he said. With some spot painting done correctly and some other repairs(shocks, air conditioner, original wheels, and a good detail) it could be a big seller. He's asking $12k. I offered $10.5k but I changed my mind after thinking about it.
He lied about it being like new. I started pointing out things wrong with the car and he was saying "Oh yea I forgot to tell you" So I decided against buying. Who knows what else is wrong that he's not telling me. You could sink between $2,000 to $4000 into this car to bring it back to new depending on how much work you wanted to do and as long as it was not wrecked and had correct mileage.
