It has almost a full tank of gas so my thought was to disconnect the fuel line from the carb and let the pump empty the tank.
I do need to inspect/replace all the rubber fuel lines. Might as well replace them all. I was then going to use one of those endoscopes to inspect the tank before dropping.
I do need to replace the intake gasket and o-rings. Saw a nice puddle of bright green/yellow goo in that area. This stuff is like jelly now so a cooling system flush is also in order.

I would do my best to drain the tank before removal. Don't try and pump the gas all at once. Do it in a few increments so as not to overheat the fuel pump.
Good idea with a cooling system flush. I have some really high end cooling system flush I would be willing to send you for the cost of shipping if you'd like. Its made by BG and is wonderful stuff. I bought a bunch of it because I loved it so much. If you'd like shoot me a pm and I can send you a few things to help get the car up and going!!
Good idea on the rubber fuel line replacement. If you want, when the tank is down and the feed and return lines are disconnected from the carb you can spray some carb cleaner down the lines and blow the lines out with compressed air. You know, the standard rinse, lather, repeat deal with that, lol. Works great!
I'm excited to hear that the engine does in fact run! With a clean tank, fresh gas, and lines, its sure to run much better. Have you considered rebuilding the carb as a precaution as well?

Don't forget the oil cooler lines as well. By this time they probably are deteriorating
and look all swollen and cracked on the inside, the outside will appear fine. Radiator hoses as well.
You know the drill, you've done enough rotaries to know all of this. But we will remind you anyway. LOL
