Cannot use 4,72 software!
Hi all,
i came here because i'm having a big problem. We bought the Wolf3d V400 + V400 Dash, included software. Since we installed the ECU, car started the first try adn stays very well and respondes well to throttle. The problem is that when i connect PC to ECU and launch the Wolf program, as it opens, an error dialog box appears saying: A version 4 ECU was expected but version 4,72 was found. Application terminates. The software is the latest 4,72 Rev. 1.66 then why it expected a version 4 ECU? Anyone had similar problem or could guess the reason? Please, we have a competition upcoming... |
I would suggest emailing or calling wolf. their info is on http://wolfems.com.au

i did it all...
with the ECU i received on a CD version 4,72 Rev. 1.62 i told them the problem i had and they sent me the Rev. 1.66 but got the same problem. I told them this too and they said they will be thinking about the possible reason and in the meanwhile sent me the older version (without 3D maps) i wanted to know if anyone of you had this kind of connection problem |
Did you install it over the old software? If so uninstall it all and then reboot. reboot again and then install the latest software.
Cheers Michael Smith |
no there was no previous old software because we just purchased the V400 and the coming software was already 4,72 version, and we had never used Wolf before.
But the strange is that software says it detects ECU version 4,72 but expected version 4. |
Do what Michael said. First uninstall version 4.72.1.62 and reboot. After that Install 4.72.1.66 and try.
|
thanks Pilot, we did trhis too.
Now my last doubt is that uninstall of 1.62 left some registry files and we'll try to install 1.66 directly on another Laptop where nothing was previously installed. |
You need to download dotnetfx for the system to work properly.... ;)
|
Hey rotamotive do you mean the .net patch/fix for Windows? :pat:
Cheers Michael Smith |
download and install :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en You must use this version of .NET .. there is a newer versino out there, version 2.0, unfortunately that will not work.. |
I have exactly the same problem and tried everything mentioned in this thread, nothing worked. Also Wolf doesn't seem to have a solution, I informed them 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a solution.
|
thanks, but we installed donetfx already, otherwise software would not even install.
The problem is this strange compatibility issue, but it is strange that a 4,72 version software says that it expected a Version 4 ECU but version 4,72 was found. It should be happy to have found a version 4,72! And the found ECU is not a version 4! :wallbash: |
I found the problem. I had to change my language/country-settings in Windows from German to English/Australia. I think it is because the "," and "." decimal separator. I hope this will help some people.
|
Danke Legendenkiller,
in fact we also had problems in operating due to keys... we'll try this and let You know if it also solves the program startup problems...

Have you sent this info to the people at Wolf?
|
Sure. Future users shouldn't have this problem.
