rotary scene in hawaii
i am in the military and might get stationed at Hickam. can any one tell me if there are people in hawaii that know about and are into rotarys. when i say know about i dont mean, if they have ever heard of one but if they work on them, do costum work ect ect. i have a 3rotor FC already running but i live in japan. i want to bring the motor with me and build it up and eventually drop it back into an FC, the piping thats been done on it rite now will never ever allow me to get away with driving it on the road so ima need some new pipes made. any info or refrences will help. oh and i already saw that REted is located in honolulu according to his posts but by the way he talks it seems like he's some type of rotary GOD and for me to ask him would have to be by special invitation only LOL...
i did but man am i bracing for the response. i posted a few things before about 3 rotor stuff and he pretty much jumped all over me about my ignorance to the topic. he sounds really good at was he does though but i was trying to find an alternate route even though i already PM'ed him. but he seriously cant be the only rotary man in honolulu, isnt hawaii a big import scene in general or are they still stuck on hondas. Boy, **** me off and then have the ***** to ask me for help?
You got some *****, son...
I don't know how the real scene is...
I don't like to associate with kids and punks that attract a lot of attention from law enforcement.
The rotary owners that I do associate with aren't this type of crowd.
You can get a feel for what the scene is like off of ForumsHawaii.NET
Looks like a lot of kids are still into it, but a lot of them drop like flies when the blow the motor.
Who has several hundred dollars to rebuild engines like that?
I don't like the vibe from most of the RX-8 owners either.
I don't like FD's.
Call me anti-social.

Now now, Ted has always been helpful in the second gen section (as well as other sections). Keeping people in line and any questions that I asked way back when were answered quite honestly. So much bullshit answers get posted its almost a waste of time to search in hopes of a real answer on some topics. Whenever I wanted a reply I could decently trust to be true, I was always looking for his replies and a couple other individuals.
Keep in mind a lot of second gen owners don't have a whole lot of money so when you get cheap *** broke people trying to 'build up' a 'race/drift' setup pm'ing you all day I am sure you might not have time for everyone.
Check out his website if you haven't already. It has tons of useful information on it. http://fc3spro.com/
I think he even responded to a PM or two.
I don't blame him either for not wanting to help some of the crowds these cars pertain to. There are people who are quite friendly and have some logic behind what they say. Then you have the rest, drifting all over the streets and drag racing through town. One of the reasons I ultimately sold my RX-7's. I kept getting pulled over because I was categorized with these idiots not being safe all over the place when I was just headed home from work at a late hour. Not speeding or doing anything stupid.
Anyways, enough of the rant. If it were me and I didn't want to do my own work. I would pay him whatever he wanted to work on my car. I know he knows his FC's.
