Looks nice :)

HOZZMANRX7 05-29-11 01:46 PM

I've seen this in person. Pictures simply do not do justice.

DJDINO 05-29-11 08:51 PM

Badass!!!

cone_crushr 05-29-11 11:17 PM

Very high-end race setup you've got there RB. Like the way the ducting mates with the hood slats.
There's enough heat exchanger area to start a damn nuclear plant.

fc3s91 05-29-11 11:27 PM

Lmao

Alex Rodriguez 05-30-11 12:04 AM

very nice! pic of the front bumper shot

86v8rx7 05-30-11 12:58 AM

Here are some more pictures of the setup I built for Robert.

Clean slate, where everything started.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00561.jpg

In order to fit some 3" charge piping cleanly and with the shortest path I sectioned out about 4 inches from the power steering bracket. I removed the a/c too since this is a race car after all.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00567.jpg
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00565.jpg
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00564.jpg

I got a 24"x10"x3.5" Spearco core for the intercooler, it's rated at 900hp efficient at .5psi pressure drop. Robert was a bit worried about this but now he makes more boost, spools quicker, and has lower intake air temps than with is old HKS front mount.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00569.jpg
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00573.jpg
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00576.jpg

I built a flange for his Greddy Bov, and had to modify his Greddy throttle body adapter to take 3" tube and added 2 -4 an bungs for his wastegate line and a vacuum line. Pretty much everything is AN now except the radiator lines.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00571.jpg
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00570.jpg

For the radiator I built aluminum lines that go almost all the way up to the motor. They are all mandrel bend 1.5" aluminum. I had to make tabs to hold his fan in too and seal off the holes he had cut in the shroud before.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00563.jpg
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00574.jpg

86v8rx7 05-30-11 01:00 AM

I built an air box for his filter and had to build a surge tank in order to fill the radiator and separate the air out since the radiator was low now. I had to modify the upper water neck to, so I cut it apart and turned it 90 degrees and added a bung for his temp sender and a -6 AN bung for the surge tank.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00583.jpg
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a61...t/DSC00584.jpg

The air box uses Dzus fasteners so it's really easy to take the lid off and clean the filter or pull it off.

The setup seems to work really well, but I won't know for sure until he takes it out to the tracks and really beats on it.

If anyone needs anything fabricated or welded just shoot me a pm.

Anthony

looks awesome!

amemiya rules 05-30-11 01:57 PM

its about time you went v-mount. let me know how much cooler your car runs.

fc3s91 05-30-11 06:15 PM

I will do...

frijolee 05-31-11 01:02 PM

Good stuff gents... I gotta say, I really enjoy being friends with guys who aren't afraid of fab or pushing it a bit on the technology front (regardless of what's under the hood).

Only feedback off-hand would be adding a grommet at the intake box to avoid wear and welding brace in between the two radiator hard lines (that's a long run to be unsupported and aluminum has no stress endurance limit relative to fatigue life.)

If this looks amazing now, I really can't wait to see it all polished...

...and when he finishes tweaking the odds and end. Good engineering eye suggestion for one more future tweak. :icon_tup:

TheAbsence 05-31-11 05:49 PM

Wow impressive. I can't wait to see this in person. Sorry I couldn't yesterday Rob.

fc3s91 05-31-11 07:58 PM

TheAbsence 06-04-11 02:56 AM

LargeOrangeFont 06-04-11 03:40 PM

Looks sweet!!! Can't wait to check it out in person.

fc3s91 06-05-11 01:37 AM

Interior is staying. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Slevin77 06-05-11 02:52 PM

wow, beautiful fab work !

mdpalmer 06-08-11 08:38 PM

That's sick robert. Vmount FTW. Now crank the boost up since your air and water will be cooler  Look forward to seeing it in person. Those welds looks sweet.. would love to be able to weld like that.

Alex Rodriguez 06-09-11 02:08 AM

86v8rx7 06-09-11 11:38 AM

Sure shoot me a pm and let me know what you need.

AaronJ 06-14-11 11:49 PM

was the front support bar cut out to make this all fit?

jectrx7 06-15-11 10:30 AM

looks really good. great job!

fc3s91 06-15-11 11:18 AM

The support was cut to fit the v mount but we replaced it with a chrome moly crashbar.. That will support the same area.

AaronJ 06-16-11 01:48 PM

Do you have any pictures of the bar?

fc3s91 06-16-11 06:25 PM

As soon as the fab work is done.

More pics the new Comp turbo and Tial mvr 44mm wastegate. Both the turbo and wastegate is water cooled. Turbo size is a ct4367-65 with a .84 divided housing.

HOZZMANRX7 10-08-11 11:01 PM

Can he fab that kit to my riding lawn mower?

fc3s91 10-09-11 12:13 AM

funny guy!!!!

mdpalmer 10-09-11 06:00 PM

nice turbo their, sir :) you gonna show off that beast @ 7stock this year? it's pretty close to your house, so you have no excuse for not being there  btw, how the hell is the wastegate watercooled?

Hey Mike,
The wastegate has a port running through it.

More bling!!!

cone_crushr 10-10-11 10:46 PM

That turbo is worth more than my car. Even your V-band clamps are blingworthy. Like that bead-rolled I/C duct too.
Interesting airbox solution to feed the turbo. Looks like quite a challenge to shoehorn all that stuff in there.
Are you done with mods yet? :ponder:

fc3s91 10-10-11 10:51 PM

No way Jose!!!! I have more plans for this car.... Its only money..

It never ends for any of us. Part of the fun. More over, Robert is simply the poster child.:icon_tup::icon_tup:

86v8rx7 10-11-11 01:51 AM

Cmon Robert when are we gonna tube the front end....... We need to put that pig on a diet :Kill1:

fc3s91 10-11-11 08:12 PM

Not yet. Finish the cage first...

-=Lil Red=- 10-11-11 09:03 PM
