Lol quick update.
John tried to appeal the judgement, guy can't read and didn't pay the 75 dollar fee to appeal the decision and judgement cannot be appealed anymore lol.

Guys so broke, has all these cars and business but doesn't have 5k he's known he's had to pay for months lol. And is requesting a payment plan.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS CASH-BROKE BUSINESS.

I've finally picked up my car. But there's shadiness afoot.
Few weeks ago, engine was in the car and John said it moves under it's own power. And I have a picture of the car a few weeks ago with the motor in it.

Now, the motor and everything is pulled and is in boxes lmfao.

Why John insists on shooting himself in the foot by acting childishly is beyond me, but if he thinks this won't come back to bite him in court, he's very wrong.

Fuck Angel Motorsports and especially fuck John Vargas. If John ends up closing up his CA shop to join his brother in VA, I still would shout from the rooftops to stay the fuck away from ANY business John Vargas has anything to do with.

I hope his business dies alongside his reputation.

There are too many guys like this out there, you should get a solid estimate in writing, pay only a small part of it upfront with future payments based on verifiable progress, with a large part due at completion. Be proactive, stay in regular contact, visit your car regularly, keep your self top of mind to the shop, it is very easy for a shop to get caught up in the latest project to come in and also too many shops are not very well funded and are always looking for new cash and that can create a situation where they are using funds from your project to fund some other poor sob whose car and money have been there for a while and his upfront money is long gone. Never pay everything up front! If the shop is not going to get paid when your car is finished, what is their incentive?

I'm usually an auto-shops best customer, I pay everything up front (I used to own a shop and know how nice it makes knocking out a customers service when funds are already settled). I've used no less than 6 different custom auto shops in SoCal over the past 6 years for work and always operated in this manner and typically to excellent results. TriPoint and ZerekFab are two shops that worked on my FD and none of them had any issues addressing my car in a timely manner.

I have Mike Davis at Full Detail Automotive in Tampa that's going to take over the project. I served with him in Okinawa and IIRC helped Mike swap that tranny years ago in that FD that got featured on Hoonigan. (mike is literally one of the most anal retentive guys I've ever seen and his attention to detail and perfectionism is a character flaw I can rely on when it comes to his work ethic).

I think moving forward, I'm pretty much not gonna go after hype shops. The risk of gambling on a smaller or lesser known shop just isn't worth it for me anymore. I'd probably recommend everyone go to as best a shop you can afford, or personally know the guy doing the work.

But w.e, I got my car back, I'm gonna finish up the 8374 build, do a couple track days, loiter around the Atlanta car scene and get some instagram attention and probably just sell my FD to buy a new ranch for my K9 business.

I understand

I understand this story all too well. Rotary shops often think they are Gods due to the fact that not everyone works on Rotary Engines. I had a similar experience with a shop here in FL. The shops name was Jose Fuego. After an engine rebuild that did not last 1k miles I almost gave up on rotaries all together. Not because of the car but because of the mechanics. The car stayed in my garage with no engine for 10 years. I made sure I warned all my rotary buddies about how I got ripped and in less than 2 years that shop had to close down. 10 years later I trusted Kilo Racing with my car and I have been happy ever since. I dont wish Angel Motorsports bad luck. It looks like they build good engines but it's worth nothing if they can not finish customers cars. I hope they get there stuff together. I will say that my car will not see there shop. I dont have time, nor patience to deal with shops like this.

I met John at the last SevenStock and had a good conversation about the drag fb they built on Hoonigan. Seemed like a good guy. But, seeing some of the things on his videos, I would definitely consider red flags for a business / shop owner. For example, one of his customers left a yellow FB in John's care while he was out of town. So John put on his own wheels and a few of his own parts on the car and started ripping it around town like he stole it. Not how I was raised to treat other people's property, let alone my customer's. Another video, he had brought his black FC to the Hoonigan burn-yard. Hert started commenting on all the parts that were actually his. I can understand using your friend's parts with their permission, but Hert was John's customer at the time and was rebuilding his Twerkstallion, which is why he had access to all the parts and apparently didn't ask. It just seams to me like anything in his shop, he treats as if he owns it. I wouldn't mind hanging out and BSing with him about rotary stuff, but there are better options for services.

that yellow fb was actually his that he built for his dad... and Hert & john are using sarcasm. John says shit like that on purpose cause he likes to troll but only those who know him personally would know that. But anyway, my fd is running strong as hell and looking good. Thanks all for your useful words.

No shit. Any of us that waited for those FC REW mounts that ended up being 6 months late and missing all the mounts/hardware know how it feels. Got jerked around by that clown for 6 months. Took threatening a paypal dispute to get shit moving. Get em outta here.

Lol John was supposed to pay me yesterday.

Surprise surprise. Breaks his payment agreement with me and comes up with a BS excuse.

Ladies and gentlemen. Angel Motorsports at their absolute best.
