HELP!! The FC Broke On ME!
 

ok back story,

i was chillin at the at the light gonna make a left turn from Alameda to Rosecrans (right under the Bridge)..
usually while sitting at a long red light i put the car back into neutral,
light turned green, popped it into 1st gear and pressed the gas. next thing i know i hear a a bunch of crunch sounds and clanks. and it wont go. engine just idles fine no problems. shifter still goes into the gears but no movement. so i think its a Tranny, issue.

so i ask humbly.. I NEED A TRANNY!!!!!!

So it's only 1st? or 2nd is banged out too? I'm not too sure about n/a s4s but I can start driving in all the way up in 3rd gear no problem..

nah its all gears, they go in fine no problem, but when start to let off the clutch nothing happens.. no reverse nada. just the rpm and speed gauges move. so the car thinks its moving. so im not sure if its just the clutch or the tranny or driveshaft. all i know is i need to get this thing up in the air to take a look at it.

Don't you have a jack? it could also be the diff or anything inside it.

Take it apart before you get parts. If the speedo is spinning the clutch is good, it could be trans, diff, or drive shaft. Get you ass on the ground and reach under the car and see if you can turn the drive shaft girlly man!

lol, and if i can turn it? is that good or bad?

check your blinker fluid

If the car is not moving and the drive shaft can turn, that's BAD, The diff is most likely shot.

check if there is still a drive shaft. if it's not there then it's probably gone.

Why would the speedo still work then? Power must be getting to the output shaft of the tranny or the speedo wouldn't work.

the diff on the car should be good, i installed a s4 gxl lsd only had 40k miles on the lsd

^^ I've ruled out the diff based on the noise zero. sounds more clutchy like.. lol

Don't see how the speedo can indicate without the car moving, if it's a clutch issue.

if the speedometer is going up. its prolly the driveshaft. have you looked under the car already?

Diagnose it. Remove the Drive shaft and see what it does. Check the Trans oil and see what it looks like. Any bits of metal? How Does the Clutch feel? If it actually Grinds in all Gears its possible its the main gear.

nah.. i dont have a place to lift it, i have no tools. im trying to get this thing towed to the ladies moms place.. she has open garage and tools and jacks galore. anyone have a flat bed i can borrow? :)

yup soounds like clutch to me, maybe throwout bearing?

i know a dude that has a flat bed that'll tow it for 40 buxx.

well some good new, i dont need a flat bed no more.. neighbor is gonna let me use her Garage cuz she never uses it so i dont need to toe anymore. thanks for offering tho nightridaz777,
i got access to tools too jack and everything. now i just need to get them from my ladies moms place. i will ask for some guided help, i've never taken out clutch or tranny really, so if anyone has nothing to do tomorrow and wants to help a newb out. PM me.

i've pulled off a couple of fc transmissions and put back on 1. we just did my homeboys corolla's clutch last night. corolla's are easier! you dont need to remove the exhaust on those! lol. i would help but no gas to get over there lol.

Can't be the clutch, it has less than 10k miles on it. It was recently installed around last year in august/july. But who knows, some things just go wrong.

i just got done from under tha car. its the drive shaft. it broke in half at the place where the bolts connect and make it one.

sooooo, where can i get one? and does anyone wanna help me? never done this before.

I've seen a base model in the junkyard, i think it still had hers on.

^^ where at? if i can practice removing it from the yard; will make it easier on me when i do it on my car.

if S4 N/A and S5 N/A interchangeable I'll sell mine. since I want to take out my N/A drive train

good news.. got the shaft from streetwise420, 30bucks. replaced it bout 20min ago.. ill post of breakage soon.. need to shower

I doubt it's from being too low. I don't remember to clearly but I'm pretty sure the drive shaft it above the lowest part of the body so it wouldn't be able to be hit by any scrapes. possible flying rocks and such could hit it but I doubt it would do any damage to a metal drive shaft.

nah.. didnt hit a damn thing..

there is a metal sheet that is between the exhaust and drive shaft so nothing could have hit it.. just broke at the U bend part.. the other piece is MIA.. so i dunno..
