I hate you. You've made amazing progress w/ these knobs and have neglected to inform me.... Now I'm gonna have to add one to my other order that I'm sure you're working on...............................................

Narfle 04-21-11 01:13 AM

Could you make it something like 18oz if you wanted to?

I could, it just involves weighting it with a denser material.

For example, the latest 8 & 9 ounce knobs were weighted with brass, which is ~.308lb/in³. I could do tungsten which is .697lb/in³, or ~2.25x denser.

Enough with the math, it's definitely possible =) My densities are quoted from this table: http://www.thelenchannel.com/1density.php

Cheers!

Gordon was kind enough to give me one of his shift knob made by Landon, after sitting in his car and drooling over it..It fits great, and the weighted knob provides better shifting, needless to say, it is retro and has a kickass Mazda emblem on it...
Thank you Gordon once again

Awesome work man!
I just have a couple questions:
Is it possible to weight the knob more towards the bottom end on a 5 or 6" dildo knob?
Is there any flex in the tall knobs? The stock S5 knob has just a little flex in the material which I can't stand, so I'm wondering if the delrin is hard enough to remain crisp at 5 or 6".
thanks, cheers

I could do that, but I can't weight a delrin knob. I split the knob into 2 pieces, hollow it out, & add brass powder, then glue back together. Problem is, I can only glue acrylic, as the delrin is so slick the glue doesn't adhere to it.

As for flex, everything's going to flex a little bit, I hate to say it but I think my knob will be prone to it as well, however I've yet to drive around in my car with one of my dildo style knobs in it. I can test it out in my car before sending it to you, if you would like?

Cheers!

Clear or dyed clear knobs are $60, colored knobs are $80, and adding weight is an extra $15. Shipping is USPS Priority mail, and is $5

Grappler 05-12-11 11:57 PM

Landon... Love my new Nardi old school M horn button. I see you made it taller, deeper, but it needs to work right. Be sure to test it a bit before sending? Also, the matching e-brake button looks good. No emblem there.

I think its really great to be able to make up matching horn buttons, sift knobs,. and e-brake buttons.,

Gordon

Yep, tested before even getting it engraved. Felt good to me! Glad you like them, it was a fun interesting project!!
