Arrow My First Project-Help?

So I recently rescued an 83 RX-7 that sat in a field for about 15 years. There is a small amount of rust (considering) around the body and I'm pretty sure the motor/tranny are shot. That's of little concern seeing as I want to convert it to run a SB 350 hanging around my Dads shop. Now, this full garage is at my disposal, but unfortunately, my dad hates this car and refuses to put forth anytime/effort into it. So I'm on my own. I have about $8k budgeted for this build which includes:
-Back half/tube chassis
-Suspension and brakes
-Driveline and Rear
-Wiring and Electronics
-Interior
Not included in this is, of course, the long block which is already built and the labor since I'll be doing most of that myself. The first part of this build is obviously going to be essentially gutting the car, which I could do myself, but I want to make sure I do it right and without damaging anything. I've downloaded a 1st Gen Workshop manual but am struggling to understand some of the steps. So any advice, tips, tricks will be well appreciated. I'll be making my first attack on this car on 2/12/17.

I always enjoy seeing a new first gen build. It keeps me excited about my project.

I don't have too many tips. I pulled my engine, trans," and fuel tank and that is about it. All of which was pretty strait forward and easy.

Are you buying a kit or DIY for the swap?
