Generation V LT1

So Chevrolet is selling the Stingray engine in crate form for the low, low price of $11,000:

LT1 Crate Engine: 6.2L Small Block Engine | Chevrolet

Who's thinking about putting one into their car?

Looks like it could make insane power... but a bit heavier with the iron block.

Nice. But I like the high-tech features in the LT1 (street)... the LS 376 makes more sense for a track build.

I'm curious about how well it will fit into everything and whether it will end up lighter in the front than an LS (including transmission, etc.).

No it won't be any lighter than an LS, and no one has swapped one yet so there are no real answers on how it will fit. You'll have to make a custom oil pan for sure, and who knows if the manifolds will work. An LS3 is a spectacular street engine in any of the 3 trims GM sells it in - 430HP, 480HP or 525HP.

What high tech features do you think the LT1 will have? It it just a direct injected pushrod V8. It does have variable valve timing, but the Gen 4 engines can be had with that too. It is going to take significant extra cost and time to make it work.

That said, I have seen a the wet sump version for $8625 shipped.

Better emissions, mileage, and cylinder deactivation.

Sure, but that engine has none of those things

The mileage might be slightly better than a 700 HP LS engine, but that's about it.

There's always tradeoffs. I'd probably stick with a stock 460 hp... more than enough for the FD chassis on the street.

Direct injection, I am personally not ready to play with that. If I get a lt1 in getting the car it was a made for. Those things are sexy as ****.
