looks stock

kabooski 02-26-04 08:12 PM

nope thats a T4 wheel on the stock Compessor housing
and the inlet has been machined

You can grab a T4 machine the back housing and fit the whole T4

I.E T4 CHRA-P trim turbine wheel/ and front assembly

good numbers BTW

gsracer 02-26-04 08:18 PM

kabooski how can you tell? How many blades does the stock compressor wheel have? I tried looking for to4b/to4e style compressor wheels but didn't find any great pics

kabooski 02-26-04 08:22 PM

The T4 wheel has a more of a angle to the blades
as seen in the 1st pic

I have a T4 wheel I bought new on ebay a while back
its just like that one

2a+RoN 02-26-04 08:23 PM

The inlet that you said has been machined, was ported and knife-edged by me. The housing was completely stock when off. Even looking at the wheel w/o the housing on and comparing to another stock turbo I had, I could not tell any differences.

kabooski 02-26-04 08:28 PM

you can take the comp cover off and with a DIGITAL CALIPER check the diffrenses

2a+RoN 02-26-04 08:30 PM

damn, if it is a T4 wheel, then I'm not gonna feel so good about my numbers...

kabooski 02-26-04 08:34 PM

Turbo timmy has a stand alone with a greddy V spec FMIC and a upgraded wheel and could not break the 300 number so don't feel bad (280'ish or less If I recall)

The small Turbine wheel is what is holding you back

2a+RoN 02-26-04 08:58 PM

I really wanna do another dyno run in 4th now, I think I could prolly put down near 260 with the boost holding.

Even if it is a t4 style wheel without measuring the size of the wheel it could be just a s trim or t5/t6. I think the biggest wheel that can actually fit in the stock compressor housing is a v-trim.

There are quite a few people putting down 300rwhp with the stock turbine...of course most are using h-trim or 60-1 copmressor wheels.

That being said...we all know full t04 turbo's are a lot more efficient and will make a lot more power than hybrids.

Oh, you're assuming eveything is tuned to best efficiency? :)

Uh, someone is not tuning right.
I've seen comp upgrades break 300 to the wheels with the stock turbine section...

I bet BNR would object also.

Here is my Hybrid
I'll be running for now since I sold my T-66
except I will not be using that stock CHRA
I have a another stock turbine housing
P trim ready that will accept a full T4 CHRA

I'm going to attempt to be the Hybrid FC King :D

well damn that's just a t04 wearing a ht-18 jacket

that's cheating ;)

What are you going to do for your wastegate?

kabooski 02-29-04 08:22 AM

The stock wastegate is ported but I have a 42mm wastegate. I will grind and weld a tube and flange on the stock turbo manifold to keep boost creep to zero

Turbo Timmy 05-05-04 08:53 PM

My car is not ported. I haven't found anyone with an S5 turbo with the upgraded wheel that can hold than 12psi to redline. If anyone has one on their car I'd like to hear about it. I think an S4 could do it just because of the tiny wastegate it creeps like hell. My S4 would hold 15-6 lbs all day long!

badboi24u 05-06-04 02:26 PM

damn you guys are smart

Ryde _Or_Die 05-15-04 08:09 PM

Ya I couldn't get my hybrid to hold boost to redline which is the main downfall of any hybrid. I have my turbine housing machined and a larger wheel put in too. But I did have the stock catback so now with my streetport and full 3" exhaust we'll see.
