87 TII SP Dyno
Dyno'ed my car today with the following mods:
-corksport dp -mp -apex n1 dual -custom 3" TID -s5 turbo -streetport engine (all work done by me) -750cc sec. -FD fuel pump -underdrive pulley -no accessories -no emissions stuff -safc -manual boost controler set at 12psi MAX HP: 246.5 MAX TQ: 223.2 on Dynojet Woulda made more power, but the streetport was outflowing the small stock turbo and boost fell off at 5750 in 3rd to almost 8psi! |
Why'd you dyno in third gear?
|
Got a pic of the dyno graph?
I find those numbers pretty liberal for a stock turbo? -Ted |
Ted, why? I put down 232 at 10.5-11 pounds on a s4 turbo. Sounds like a healthy solid bolt on t2....

Not that it matters but my G-Tech Pro says I have 235 at the wheels. Intake, Exhaust, SP, stock inj. stock turbo, stock IC.
Put my stock intake back on to try and bring the boost down a bit but ended up dropping back to 10-11 psi from the 18-20psi. It feels really slow now. |
18-20 pounds on the stock turbo is WAY the hell out of it's efficiency range. If you're truly running 1.3-1.4 bar your turbo will die very quickly on top of that. More boost does not always equal more power.

A street port usually kills some of the torque, unless someone has got a revolutionary porting technique that somehow leaves the torque high - that's why I'm curious on how the street port was done?
There is nothing different between an S4 versus S5 turbo, so the max power should be about the same. -Ted |

What is the difference in a/r value between the s4 and s5's exhuast side? Personally I didn't even notice the torque, but I put down just over 200 rwtq, so that is a good bit less.... |
I saw the dyno sheet, his claims are accurate. His first run untuned produced like 214 hp, but after like 5 more runs they got it leaned out to the correct A/F ratio. I think the reason he produced so much torque is because he barely ported the exhaust, and its running my 2.5 inch dual exhaust right now. Also he didn't specify that his s5 turbo has a p-trim wheel. I will try to get him to scan the dyno sheet.

p-trim exhuast wheel machined into the stock hotside with just the stock compressor housing/wheel??
|
p-trim??? I never said I had a p-trim wheel. Its an s5 turbo that was supposedly upgraded by turbonetics(the basic upgrade, i think just compressor wheel) but it looks stock to me. It has the stock turbine wheel and housing. I'll try to get the sheet scanned for you guys. I think the reason I got good torque is because of the porting, I left the primary intakes pretty mildly ported but went large on the secondaries.
|
Oh and $150FC, yeah, afterwards, I realized I shoulda done it in 4th (the boost feels more solid there too so I think it would made over 250), but the last time I was there they had me do it in third so I just went with that.
|
take off your TID and try to get pics of the front of the turbo on level with the inlet...we can probably figure out what wheel is in there...stock or otherwise
|
will do. I'm trying to get the scanned graph right now.
|
here is the graph:
|
I will take the pics of the comp. wheel in a lil bit. I have seen a handful of stock turbos and my wheel doesn't look any different really, but I'll see what you guys think.
|
time to grab some gsl-se injectors or a pair of 720's for the primaries. You can see on the dyno you're somewhere in the mid 13's for air/fuel before the secondaries come online. |
Yeah, there is some room left on the afc to do some more tuning, so I'm gonna try and richen it up some down lower.
|
oops my bad on the p-trim, I knew it had an upgrade(supposedly from the guy you bought it from). Ill just shut up and let the adults handle this...

The numbers are way too high for a stock turbo. I think the Turbonetics wheel is a V-trim, and this makes a lot more sense! -Ted |

Here's a pic of my turbo...
Looks stock to me, what about you guys? |
oh and btw, the knife-edging on the compressor was done by me, the compressor housing looked completely stock when disassembled.
