310rwhp@13lbs stock engine,stock intercooler.

I just installed and tuned a Haltech PS1k on this S5 Rx7.. engine is a stock JDM using the stock intercooler. car has resized secondary injectors 2x1200cc's and stock 550cc primaries.. car is using a t04e turbo. Garrett.. bosch intank fuel pump.. enjoy the vid..

those are really good numbers , how much more power do you think he's making from having the standalone over having a stock ecu/rtek/safc etc ?

Im trying get around 200 whp or so initially with potential for 250-280whp on my s4 when i build it up, running either a stock s4 or s5 turbo, stock port motor.

Doubt I'll be getting a standalone, cant really afford that but who knows, im just curious as to how much power you can squeeze out of fine tuning on a standalone over using other options.

310 on a stock intercooler!!!!!

Awesome job ito !!!

SO-CALxRXx951 07-12-12 10:56 AM

very impressed with that makes me want to keep my TMIC, on lol but im looking for 350wrhp.....

RXSpeed16 07-12-12 11:21 AM

Good job with the TMIC! Do you know what kind of IAT's you are seeing?

864angel112 07-13-12 04:39 PM

What fuel is it on Ito

Sunoco 93 octane..

bmwrx7man 07-13-12 06:49 PM

im about to ditch my front mount put my top mount back on seriously. does it get got after soo many pulls?

driftxsequence 07-13-12 07:23 PM

Are you using methanol or water injection by any change? I plan on adding that and would like to use the TMIC.

If the 310 was with the TMIC i may have to start looking elsewhere...haha!

sharingan 19 07-15-12 10:37 AM

Edit: just noticed this was on a mustang dyno...wow.

310-315 whp is just about the max you can achieve with any shred of efficiency on the stock tmic. The 2" piping , core size and end tank design become a severe restriction past that amount of airflow. Also keep in mind that the jdm s5 tmic is bigger than the usdm tmic,so unless you have one, don't expect this level of performance.

AI is a nice bandaid for high IAT's , but it does nothing for pressure drop, or the physical restriction to airflow. If you plan on shooting for 350+ you are better off modifying the tmic inlet/outlet to at least 2.25" or ditching it altogether and running straight AI in quantities sufficient to provide all your charge cooling needs.

driftxsequence 07-15-12 07:53 PM

How can you tell the difference between a jdm s5 and the s4 usdm? I have a guy who could do modify the end tanks for me. I will definitely be running methanol injection pre-intercooler.

sharingan 19 07-16-12 03:30 PM

Writing is different. I believe the jdm uit is "rotary engine with intercooler" or something like that. Also, the S4's were painted black iirc and S5 were left aluminum.

Or you could measure the inlet...

rxspeed7 07-16-12 03:38 PM

That is awesome power!! What was the iat's? I suspect they were pretty high.

jdm's have no nipple for the small hoses on the rear left side of the intercooler.. us series 4 do.. us series 5 dont

SeanB 07-16-12 07:40 PM

What did the torque curve look like?

sharingan 19 07-17-12 11:08 AM

Like a beast I would imagine....

I got a buddy who is going to put 2.5 inlet/outlets on the intercooler for a case of beer. gotta love doing business!

I'll report back with the results of the larger endtanks since I havent found much about modifying a stock TMIC. I also believe I have the "JDM" version. it does say rotary with intercooler and is all silver, no black.

sharingan 19 07-17-12 05:49 PM

Please report back, my calculations only account for the airflow through the piping they do not account for the restriction posed by the core itself (which was obviously not designed to support such power levels) but hopefully it will work out for you.

driftxsequence 07-18-12 08:15 AM

I was thinking about that as well. In this case, with the expected power output, should I remove the lower heat shield or leave it intact?

sharingan 19 07-18-12 05:44 PM

Won't make a difference, the restriction is internal. You'd prolly be better off coating the heat sheild in some reflective insulation like in that other thread.

I've currently got 216rwhp from the stock s4 turbo. but it does have a microtech LT10 and a front mount. plus some other bits and bobs
