That's a nutty 60' Dan, grats. I'm actually surprised you aren't in the very high 9's with that 60' and mph. Is it dropping off in the mid range somewhere?

I also have Nitto Drag radial on my stock rims.
and I get severe wheel hop also. on them..

So is it because these tires are so sticky??
or are they just Crappy tires???
Or am I not SPINNIG them fast enough??( not dropping the clutch high enough rpm)?

Hey. i was the kid at gandy in tampa a week ago with the red FD at sonic, sorry i had to run, i was with a group, and they were filming for something. Anyways, ive only been to the track 1 time, and got 3 runs in, my best run was a 13.2@107, my 60ft was 2.0 on 265 perelli Pzero, i should be in the mid-low 12's now.

thanks. That would have been a high nine pass, but unfortunately on that pass the car got stuck in 1st gear for a sec, and then I shifted to second. Soooo close. Try again this weekend at Oklahoma race. :)

if they are the nitto 555s then yes you are not heating the tires up enough and also probably not launching at a high enough rpm

Try heating them for about 7 seconds and launch at 5500-6000 while quickly slipping the clutch. Also if you slip it too much you'll still get wheel hop. You don't want to totally drop it though, let it out fast.

Two step launch is basically a rev limiter that cuts out ignition or fuel until a switch is let up (usually placed on the clutch switch) allowing a small amount of boost to be created upon launch.
The good thing about drag radials is that they can be VERY sticky once heated up (so sticky that they break many parts like axles, etc...), and they are 100% legal to drive on the street with. The bad part about them is that they are a radial tire, which means they have a stiffer sidewall than the ET Streets or slicks. Stiffer sidewall equals less flex, or "absorbtion" capability of the tire, so you get wheel hop because more of the shock is going through the tire to the drivetrain. Same thing happens with BFG drag radials but they have more flex capability than the Nittos (although Nittos are a great tire). I've used the BFGs but you still get wheel hop. Rotary Performance sells a drag launch kit which helps with wheel hop, by eliminating most of the the forward and aft movement of the suspension that creates wheel hop, but it will be there a little no matter what you do.

2. What kind of diff do you use?
3. How much air pressure in the tires do you use?
4. Whats your setup= Single turbo? twins? Haltech? power FC? clutch?
5. Tire size/rim size?

22k all original miles (all stock) on 245/45/16 rear and 225/45/16 front toyo t1s tires. i launched at 5k and was able to get a:

1/8 8.972 and yes i missed fourth that is why my time steadily drops

mph 91.64 (OUCH!!!!!) TO know what could have been...i thought atleast it could have been 13.9 or 13.8. the tires are awsome the guy i bought the 7 from still had the original tires and that was a no go even on the street it would still spin and hop. initial mods i was thinking about were:

m2 cf airbox with twin kn filters
m2 or pettit downpipe
apexi gt cat back
sr flywheel
m2 ecu upgrade

also, what fuel pumps do you guys recommend? and what do you guys recommend v-mount or front mount. i was thinking of going with the v mount it seems like its the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the compliment. That is a great 60' for the mods you have on your car. What rpm are you launching at? Does the clutchmasters clutch hold up well? Keep it up!

90 T2 12.2 @114 1.769 60 ft. best mph was 116 all on factory upgraded turbo...got a 13 b re cosmo mot with an upgraded T78 now..should be running in a month . dopin the fuel system now

Dan I launch around 7,500 and my signature mistates, I have a sprung Clutchnet clutch, not a Clutchmasters. I have to change that.

I am about to change clutches though. I am not fond of the 6 puck. Mine is a street car. The 6 puck is great at at the strip but too much of a PITA in bumper to bumper traffic or even leaving a stop light.

Dan, you got any plans for this year?

My best 60' last year on stock twins went like this:

60' - 1.8
1/4 - 12.3
mph - 115

but i missed third

after that:

60' - 2.1
1/4 - 12.3
mph - 117

but shifted clean.

this was on stock twins like 13-14 lbs, and bald toyo proxes t1s 245's. and by bald i mean bald, tires were smooth to the touch, had no tread left.

ill have new numbers for my new car soon, cant wait to try to get traction with 225 all seasons wooo!
