Turblown IWG EFR 8374 26psi
4 Attachment(s)
Hey I just got done getting Turblowns IWG EFR 8374 Turbo kit dyno'd! It is soooo AWESOME.... my peak tq went from 6k to 3.6k and the car is making alot more HP in the lower RPM range. The car Scooots! I did have some voltage issue so there is def a lot of room for more HP.. I have them all sorted out and will be retuning shortly... 30PSI! so stay tuned! (no pun intended lol)

Gotta love that boost curve haha instant boost!

Sexy!
Do you know pricing and availability for this kit? Any idea if it fits well in a FC? A friend of want to buy one and I am gathering list with required hardware |
Only the 7670 will fit on the shorty system for an fc. We do offer a long runner iwg system for the fc3s engine. Now if you have an fd or 13bre in your fc chassis you can use the 8374 versions in shorty configuration . All the info is here : http://www.turbosource.com/mobile/Category.aspx?id=2039
You would swear Shawns car was a 3 rotor riding in it... |
So if we use an FD or excessive FD LIM the short system with the IWG housing should clear it in the FC? thats really nice.

on my '87 TII FC I test fit my EFR 7670 on my engine with LIM and in the chassis.
Used an equal length symmetrical shorty HKS FD T04Z stainless tubular manifold (6" runners that meet at the center of the motor). Mine is an older non v-band wg version of this- http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...D/DSCF3516.jpg It fits, but I have removed my ACV casting on the LIM- I don't know if the exhaust housing would hit that or not on a stock LIM. The center housing is centered fairly well at the front runner- the 8374/9180s *might* just fit as well as I have ~1/2" from the backside of the compressor housing to the front LIM runner. The rear V-band is pretty close to the stock turbo coolant line boss. I think it would work but I am going to trim this casting off as well and plug it. Well, I better get some pics. |
Yeah, we planned to use FD front and rear side-housing and S5 center housing to retain the stock FC engine mount location and benefit from the better oilpump on the FD front housing as well as thicker down pin land on the FD rear housing.
Blue TII, photos would be nice!, did you the the T4 IWG 7670 EFR or the EWG T3 or T4? |
My EFR 7670 is the 1.05 AR T4 external wastegate exhaust housing.
Yeah, we planned to use FD front and rear side-housing and S5 center housing to retain the stock FC engine mount location and benefit from the better oilpump on the FD front housing as well as thicker down pin land on the FD rear housing. Too many intake manifold problems. Better to use the entire FD REW and simply make/buy a bar that goes between the FC RX-7 rear pickup points of the front lower arms to mount the stock REW engine mounts to. http://www.bobbyjasan.com/images/pro...1/Img_8036.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FOYboh.jpg https://www.rx7club.com/attachments/...d-bar-full-jpg |
@ Turblown, seems he ordered the kit at Turbosource.com. now lets get exited :D. I told him to wait with the excessive LIM and first see what shape the rotor housing are when we pull the engine. if they're gone because of the tip piece doing its thing at the side, semi PP will be the way ahead.

What a/r
|
Iwg is always .92...
|
Ok I did not know that

Yep, in case his housings are gone because of the tip piece or he waits so long to open up the engine till one of the 3 piece seals flips in the groove, I will advise him to go semi PP, should be better to make the same power with less boost , heat wise. Will be using rice racing pre turbo WI to keep a safety margin knock wise.

Making progress, ran out of time to fix completely( needs a high boost actuator anyhow)...
I just noticed peak torque was actually at 30psi. Very curious to see how it goes once ignition misfires are fixed.. Should be around 470+ tq and 575-600rwhp if it flows well uptop.. |
Very nice numbers, good luck getting everything sorted out.
|
Going very nice.
If you hit the dyno again do you think it would be possible to aslo record pressure before turbine? It would be really nice to compare it to boost. and even nicer would be to do a few pulls at different boost levels. Keep up the good work!:icon_tup: |

Keep up the good work!:icon_tup: The engine is now out however as the owner say an Apex seal is stuck. This was an unknown engine with 3+ years of 27psi so no one is surprised. Built engine coming this winter. |
if anyone is interested in a USED EFR kit, i am selling one currently that is very similar to Turblown's bolt-on kit.
|
It is amazing how these EFR turbos are working with rotaries, I cannot be more excited to see how well they are working and the results people are obtaining from them.
|
These numbers are all great and everything....but does anyone have results for power and torque at 15psi on 93 octane fuel? how responsive is the turbo....what sort of power to expect on the above setup but on a more realistic....daily driver fd.
|
jacobcartmill ran his EFR 8374 at 12psi and the response and power was VERY good for that low boost. From memory he was at 340rwhp with full boost ~3,000rpm.

Impressive! What other mods?

So 482rwhp/384rwtq pump gas stock port at 16.5 psi, and if I am reading it correctly you are full boost at 3300rpms or so, do I have the right? That is really something.
|
So to clarify the op made 486rwhp @ 26psi on e85 but the video posted is the same turbo, but @16.5 psi made 481rwhp.
So for 9.5psi + swapping to e85 it made only 7 more hp? I have to be missing something here. |

( thats over 600 on a dynojet). If you look here you can find a lot more dyno sheets; BorgWarner EFR IWG 13B Rotary Turbo System |
