Got FD Dyno today

Well I'm kind of disapointed. I made 294 whp @ 12 psi on a 101 degree day and the car temp was at 200. I know I need to do a tune up, so that might have played a part also. So it's that okay for the conditions the car was at? Mods are on sig.

boostin13b 07-21-05 04:31 PM

That doesn't sound too bad to me. Especially on that hot of a day. I know here it's been 105+ degrees. On a dyno it's extremly hard to get the right amount of Air flow to your intercooler. Sounds like some decent numbers to me.

MR_Rick 07-21-05 04:38 PM

oh and it was on a 3rd gear also which I just found out is the wrong gear on our cars

Montego 07-21-05 04:44 PM

yeah I also think that's really good considering the outside temps. I remember some posts that some people don't even drive their car past 90 degree F since the car looses quite a bit of umph and therefore no fun.

bleung 07-21-05 04:52 PM

your power curve will look different between 3rd and 4th gear?

HaHaHa; that would give us in texas about 3 weeks a year to drive and two of those would be in heavy rain.

Tim Benton 07-21-05 05:13 PM

what was the correction factor on the run?

wells sucks to be you then ;)

MR_Rick 07-21-05 05:19 PM

He didn't give me that. it was all SAE.

Tim Benton 07-21-05 05:31 PM

well it helps to show how much over SAE standard conditions the run was tested in. Sounds like about a 1.04 or 1.05 (maybe higher). Anything in that range and the computer program is factoring in a lot so the data isn't as useful as a CF of 1.02 or 1.03.
He should be able to pull your run back up and see what it was.

Where is the graph?! ...and those are nice numbers for the heat, wow.

I'm intrigued, I'm hoping for 300whp once I'm back on the road.

look at sig for mods trying to get the graph scanned or waiting on the guy to e-mail it to me

Oh SAE was 1.02

MR_Rick 07-21-05 06:17 PM

man I wish there was a way I could show you guys this graph because I think is all out of wack

MR_Rick 07-21-05 06:19 PM

this is the best I can do for now
http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/5401/im0000771rj.jpg

the reason I say it has to be out of wack is because the torque curve and the a/f ration can't be that hi with the smell of gas there was on that place and the amount of black smoke that was coming out.

cruiser 07-22-05 06:51 AM

AFRs in 13's ?

MR_Rick 07-22-05 10:52 AM

I don't believe that since you can just see that it was running rich as hell

Were you having the car tuned?
I'd be pretty happy with those numbers in that heat! I made close to that at the boost on a not as hot day so youre pretty much on track.
I'd worry about those afrs though...

MR_Rick 07-28-05 07:51 AM

I have a Pettit ECU so no need for tunnig. I don't think my A/F is correct. You ever been around a old diesel tractor with all that smoke when it goes at WOT and it burn your eyes from the fuel? well that's how my car felt like through out that hole dyno run.

But that'sokay, here in about 3 month I be putting my GT35R with PFC and 850 and 1600 injectors:bigthumb:

Well, if you have a midpipe no matter how lean/rich you are, in an enclosed space even at idle your eyes will get irritated! Every single time i've had my car dynoed, i either walk out and watch from a distance or stand by the door.
All i'm saying is, if it were me i'd make sure.

That GT35R is pretty sweet! I know of at least 3 FDs with the 35/40 kit and they all make instant boost and tons of power. The one thing i've heard is that it is hard to tune otherwise great!

1QWIK7 08-04-05 10:21 PM

nice man, i have about the same mods as you..im hoping for somewhere near that hp range..i think the air temps def had something to do with it plus your tuneup maybe?

moehler 08-05-05 06:27 PM

The horse power seems good for that heat, but the torque seems really low.
I made 294 rwhp and 264 ft-lbs @ 14 psi with intake temps at 65 deg (over 90 deg F ambient temp). This was with similar mods except an smic, cat, and tuned pfc.

MR_Rick 08-12-05 05:39 PM

I was told that he was having trouble getting a RPM signal.
