No, it's just a little Greddy SMIC. We were seeing the same pressure drop across a stock intercooler at this boost. Giving serious consideration to going for the same intercooler as Rich - the car's the same color, turbos are the same, so may as well continue making it a clone ;) :D

Just wanted to say hello ( been forever ) and nice ass numbers =D. I'm still on that same old motor that I used to drive down to texas with, (98kmiles) and shes still pullin strong! Your numbers have made me consider going this route once my motor finally hits the can.

Hope everything is well in NJ!

Good to hear from you :). I can't believe you are still on that same motor! how is joe's bastardization project coming along :ky: ? lol.....

Excellent thread Rich

Rich, I wonder how much heavier the stock twins, or BNRs are compared to an average single turbo kit.... Lets say a T66 turbo with a stainless manifold and Tial wastegate (44mm). Anyone have any numbers on anything like this?

Good question, danno. I'd be willing to bet that there is a 40-50 pound weight savings.

Wompa164 04-24-06 08:27 PM

Rich, do you get any boost creep?

We have pretty much identical settings (I purchased AgentSpeed's FD) and it currently has a high-flow metallic cat installed. I want to switch to a resonated midpipe - am I going to experience any boost creep with the non-seq stage 3s and huge streetport?

I have my wastegate ported, which cuts down on a lot of it. It seems like in warmer weather I creep to 14 psi and in colder weather to 15-16 psi, but I never really want to run less than that so I don't consider it creep :D. Plus, I'm not too worried about it b/c my aquamist water injection comes on at 9 psi.

Wompa164 04-25-06 11:09 AM

Of course you have your wastegates ported - I thought Bryan did that as part of the Stage 3 package?

Yup. So you can expect boost levels similar to what I detailed above :)

You're right Jio.....after I posted I thought about it and realized I probably doubled the number. 20-25 pounds i prolly more accurate. I am sure someone can weigh both setups for us (hint hint) :)

amp 04-25-06 06:00 PM

just weighed the twins.. actuators, lines, etc..
with the exhaust mani.. bathroom scale shows 42-43lbs..
now someone go weigh a single setup.. :D

Narfle 04-26-06 03:17 AM

Hey Rich,
What boost controller are you using and how do you like it?

Dave

An old school Greddy Profec B. I love it, it has *never* let me down in over 5 years of use.

Scrub 04-26-06 05:08 PM

Once I get my old turbo back I can weigh it....but thats with a cast manifold. I'll see if I can get good ol master Kan on the phone and see how much one of his kits weighs.

So dannyo, what is the verdict :Tigger: ?

Improved FD 05-13-06 01:17 PM

yet another reason to go single, ha

I'm stuck with BNR Stage IIs for now

Eh, it's prolly like a 20 pound weight difference. Cut down on your krispy kreme intake and you'll see the same result :bigok:

Scrub 05-25-06 11:27 PM

I think the single kit by itself would weigh just as much or more then stock twins depending on your setup. But all the stuff you rip out when going single would make the biggest difference, if you consider it that much of a difference.

wanklin 05-26-06 02:01 AM

I'll see if I can find the shipping weight of a Turbonetics T-66 kit that I sold recently, should be somewhere in my notes.....

books 05-26-06 08:07 PM

weighed a 35r, with an A-Spec T3 manifold, wastegate and dumptube...aprox 38-40 lbs on bathroom scale

GoodfellaFD3S 05-27-06 10:40 AM

Interesting. So really no weight reduction at all.

Improved FD 05-27-06 03:55 PM

BNRs rule!!

;)

G's 3rd Gen 06-19-06 07:25 PM
