will this suspension make my tires rub??
 

ok so i am looking at some tyko blues, which would be a two inch drop. with that drop will my tires rub heres what i am currently running on the stock suspension with no trouble, 225/40/18. someone help me pretty please...:Wconfused

ride height is more dependent on your choice of springs rather than shocks. What springs will you be using?

Eibach springs only give you a 1" drop. Whats the offset on the wheels? If the offset is right, you shouldn't have any problems with rubbing.

not sure what my offset is......... i will have to get back to ya on that one and if you say its only going to drop an inch then i souldnt have anything to worry about anyways. ill let you know what it is.

You're almost certainly going to need spacers. What's the width of those wheels?

isnt the width of my wheels 225 like i said up top??? what size you thinkin for a spacer??

225 is the width of your tire.

what is the width of your wheels. all that information should be located on a sticker on your wheel or imprinted inside the wheel.

A 10mm or thicker spacer would be the your safest bet. You may be able to go smaller, but then you risk rubbing on the spring.

ok so what size would i need to run 245's cuz thats what i wanna shoot for however i dont want the wheels all willy nilly out the sides cuz im not a fan of widebody kits nor can i afford one i just want wider tires that will not rub the lowered suspension?? and anyone got these said spacers that they might not want????

the size is 18x7.5 this is what the specs say exatly 18 x 7.5 (+42mm) 4 x 100 / 4.50

That seems like a lot to pay for cheap generic rip off wheels that aren't especially wide and have a bad offset (by that I mean they won't fit, it'll hit the suspension).

If you want to run 245's up front, you'll need at most about a 30mm offset, and 245's are getting to be about the absolute limit and you'll almost certainly need to roll fenders. 245's are also getting to be pretty damn wide for a 7.5" wide wheel, you'd be better off with at least an 8" wide, preferably 8.5" or 9" wide.

My advice is to buy quality wheels. I've been screwed by cheap wheels failing after not much use. My Rota track wheels developed a crack around the lug hole due to a bad design, so they're junk now, money wasted.

Enkei RPF1's are about the best deal out there for wheels, quite reasonably priced, very strong and very light (under $1k and about 15.5lbs for the 17x8.5 30mm offset). That combined with some 235/40/17's is my reccomendation. Should fit fine up front, but might need a bit of a fender roll.

yea new wheels would be great and fine however i dont have the money for new wheels unless soeone wanted to do a one for one trade im still out of luck. what about a spacer that can make up the diff??

how bout you just get the wheels and suspension and put them on your car. if you need a spacer, get a spacer.

i am just trying to do as much reasearch aboutthe matter before i do so to keep from having any problems in the future. why not come prepared????

Sounds like you don't have the wheels yet. My advice: Save up.

acually yea i do have the wheels i am just doing the research on the tires cuz i want wider tires to go along with the suspension i am about to buy. check out my pics that car is mine.

You'd have to run coilovers if you want to fit anything wider than a 235 up front with no fender mods. The smaller diameter coil spring will allow more clearance.

if you're planning to run 18s on stock body with no front lip you'll still look a 4x4. Even if you get that 1" drop from your new suspension there will still be a good inch of wheel gap depending on what kind of tires you purchase. Why not just save up the money you're planning to buy rims and tires and just get a decent set of coilovers.. atleast you know that part of the car is done with, and you won't need to go back and get say another set of suspension if you ever decide to drop lower, or run more aggressive wheels where it requires negative camber to fit unrolled fenders. Patience is the key to victory, and in this case victory = slammed and flush car. :)

ok i dont know why everyone thinks that i am buying wheels, just wider tires and new suspension, i would love to have some sweet ass coilover but i am going to make due with what i got. i will just get some 235/40 and see what happens with the new suspension.
