wheel weight

Last fall when I was putting my FD away for the winter, I toke off my Enkei wheels and put on the stock. During the switch I weighed them for fun. All four Enkei weigh 37.4 pounds, three of the stock 36.4 and one 37.6(wheel and tire). I did some searching and found out about the older stock wheels having a cracking problem so Mazda stiffed them up and the newer are now heavier. I some how got one of heavier rims. I'm getting my FD ready for spring and am thinking about leaving the stock rims on for a change. Going to put on some new rubber 245/45/16.
My question, Is the one wheel that weighs more going to affect handling or cause any problems at high speed?

No. And good luck finding 245/45 16s.....all the top tires are no longer made in that size... :(

I got that size from a two year old thread when I was searching, ( https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/fd-guys-running-245-45-16s-stock-rims-470420/ ) it had a lot of good info. I checked out tire rack they have 6 brands that start at $69 up to $174 each. Is there a better size for stock rims that more available?

... but zero Extreme or Max Performance Summer tires in 245/45-16. :(

225/50-16 shows 13 tires in the Extreme and/or Max categories. I'd look at these before buying a lesser tire in 245/45-16.

Four Enkei wheels weigh 37.4 lbs? Thats 9.35 lbs per wheel. What kind of Enkei wheels are these??

I don't remember ever seeing a wheel that light.

I think the weight is for each individual wheel, including the tire. But I too am curious which model of wheel they are.

The weight of each wheel is 15.5 lbs. According the the enkei web site for RPF1 17x8 http://www.enkei.com/RacingSeriesSpecs/RPF1.html . I weighed them with a bathroom scale, I believe it reads the right weight.

does that one heavier wheel have a lot of weights added onto it for balancing?

does it have a metal valvestem instead of rubber?

hrmmm,...

All the same, its just a newer wheel the first owner of the car must of hit something and got a reinforced wheel from Mazda. I know I don't have to change it but I'm going to.

I'd change it.
