martini 07-08-02 11:29 AM

great site. I can tell that it is going to be very helpful to many people.

EL PAALO 07-08-02 06:06 PM

Thanks Martini. We hope it helps. I know I've learned alot more since we started the project.

:)

EL PAALO 07-09-02 04:22 PM

NODE!!!!!!!! Where are you?

Daedalus 07-09-02 07:12 PM

NICE!

Damn I couldn't find the wheels I was looking for. I saw some tri-star wheels that looked awesome on an FC, but I don't know the name.

Maybe you should be able to search for wheel style (i.e. 3 spoke, 5 spoke, etc)

EL PAALO 07-09-02 10:50 PM

We're actually considering having a category for the number of spokes. ;)

They aren't advans? Those are the most popular 3 spokes and best looking imho.

EL PAALO 07-11-02 09:36 AM

Okay, seriously - where is node?

no mohawk + rx7 = dates?

EL PAALO 07-16-02 11:35 AM

RIDES volunteers?

Samps 07-16-02 12:02 PM

neo_omega 07-16-02 12:09 PM

this is much better section for this thread. :)

EL PAALO 07-16-02 05:35 PM

No prob.

;)

EL PAALO 07-17-02 07:20 PM

Thank you very much for the sticky. We greatly appreciate it. We're building our links section so that people will not only be able to have all their wheel questions answered, but get pointed in the right direction for all their other pistonless needs. RX7club.com will most definately be on that list.

Most people remove the screw at the top of the fender well that holds the fender liner on to avoid rubbing. I've had mine out for quite a while and it doesn't cause any problems.

Be sure to tie any intruding hoses away from the wheel or they will rub away the sheathing. Just fyi. Otheriwse yeah you don't seem to need them.

ZoomZoom 07-18-02 03:28 PM

I have noticed it rubs the fender under load during sharp turns and pulls down the fender lip inside. I definalty need the fronts rolled. What does it average for cost from a body shop?

JimmyJimboJet 07-18-02 03:37 PM

now you need some nice big brakes behind those volks

You are SO right! I have been looking at the Brembo's Also the 99 upgraded brakes but first is first. The single turbo is coming.

Zoom,

So how do you like the Bilstein HDs with the H&R springs? I was thinking of replacing my stock Showa R1 shocks with the HDs, once the stockers wear out....?

Wow your car dropped quite a bit with the H&Rs! My car did not drop down as much as yours on H&R srings? Wheels are SSR Competitions in 8.5/9.5 x 17 with 42-mm offset. Tires are 245/45- and 275/40- 17 Hoosier R3S03s http://www.opentracking.com/emmanuel_lozano,_93_rx7.htm

The Bilsteins work out great. Its only slightly stiffer than my stock touring set up but performs much better than stock. The H&R springs did lower the car alot in the front. So much so I need to roll the fenders. You might consider the HKS lowering springs. The have less drop than the H&R's but still have the progressive rate so ride quality isnt lost. The Bilsteins ride quality is similar to the mazdaspeed coilovers I have experienced. I an not a big fan of coilovers because of the hassle of adjustment, corner balancing and alignment everytime you touch them. I rub in front with my set up because I went crazy with tire sizes up there. 255/35/18 S-03's it rides fine until you load the suspension into a corner and it rubs both fender and fender liner. The rear tires are 285/30/18 and rub nothing. I even think there is more room for even 295/30/18's on stock trailing arms and a lowered car with a +40 offset. The front area is tight but my goal was to keep the same overall diameter tire with the widest possible tire that would fit on the wheels and also on the car. I didnt care if I had to make minor mods to the fenders or buy trailing arms. It worked out the rear is fine with room to spare. I didnt want to replace the springs with the HKS ones because I just spent alot of money on both wheels/tires and struts/springs. Not to mention the effort I had putting them all on. If I had it to do over I would try the HKS springs. But I decided at this point to just pay 200 bucks for the front fenders to be rolled.
