Are the wheels on the black car 17's or 18's? they look big for 17's. sweet though.

mako 11-22-02 05:39 PM

on side note, I notice you have the hks 4 inch exhaust. I was wondering how that sounds? I know its probably loud, but what about the tone?

I was infront of RX7 Rage while we were both driving the FD's and when he got on it, all I heard were his turbos. I looked around to make sure no 747s were landing because that is what it sounded like ;)

Graphite Grey Powder Coated FD Wheel Pics

I just got my FD wheels back from the powder coater, and they look amazing!

I bead blasted them, and had the dust blown off. They were then pre-heated in the oven at 475 for 10 minutes, brought out one at a time and covered in the Graphite Grey color, put back in the oven for 20 minutes at 475, brought out, and immediately shot with the clear gloss coat.

The pictures do not do them justice, but here is a link to the photo album:

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/touring93...src=ph&.view=t

If anyone can grab the pics from the album and host them, I'd appreciate it!

They will be fitted with Kumho Victo Racers for track events tomorrow, and I'll get some pics of them on the car ASAP.

Thanks to Batman and every one else here on the forum that was helpful as I went through this process.

Man, those look really, really nice!

I've just been thinking about doing the same thing, so don't be surprised (or offended:D ) if you see an FD in Austin with the same color. They look really good.

Okay, so who did 'em?

They were done by Quality Powder Coating, here in Dallas.

They do awesome work!

The color is Graphite Grey

how much did it run you? just trying to get an idea of how much it will cost me to get my wheels done.

Rx7@Rocketship.com 11-25-02 08:19 PM

For the Canadians, and NorthEasterners, reading this thread, RLD Enterprises in Ottawa quoted me $75-$85 CDN ($50 US) per wheel.

Cheers,
David

jspecrz.
do you still have the seats for sale? i plan on running an after market seats, so far the sparco is the only i see that fit?

JSpecRZ 11-26-02 09:39 AM

I am still selling em.. but i need to take pics for people.. it's the shipping that can be alot...

Other seats can fit.. most seats for the FD have to have custom brackets made..unless you buy em from Japan...

Man, *fantastic* site fellas. I stopped by here to stop browsing over there for a moment. Just wanted to give you props...and say that you're the best thing I've seen coming out of San Marcos since I met my wife (Oh, and the unemployed former football coach at SWT).

Did hard time there...5 years.

I just got a price break down for the services I had done, so here are the details.

$25.00/wheel for bead blasting and cleaning
$35 - $45/wheel for the powder coating, depending on the powder you select, and if you want a clear coat (mine were clear coated)

Also, if you want a powder color that they don't stock (pretty unlikely), you will have to buy the powder.

So, figure a total of $60 - $70 per wheel.

I had my Kumho Victo Racers mounted and balanced this morning, and will take some pics of my car with these wheels installed at the track event I'm attending on Saturday the 30th.

cabaynes 11-26-02 05:51 PM

looks nice man  post pics on the car asap

cabaynes 11-26-02 06:15 PM

Geez, everyone's a critic ;). I had just washed the car.....now you see the need for the cadmium plated rotors. I'm planning on taking some better pics sometime soon.
