what rotors are better?
 

i am planning on buying new rotors and brake pads, but i dont know wich kind of rotors would be better for street? the slotted, cross-drilled, or both. i was thinking about getting hawk bp with those? advice please

I'd say just slotted, as from what I've heard the cross drilled can crack.

you dont need slotted and cross drilled one or the other if its olny for street use IMO i say cross drilled

Buy blank rotors for best performance and longevity. However, slottled, dimpled, and drilled rotors look neat and are fine for street use. Choose whichever style you like best. There are many threads in the Suspension section that describe all this in detail.

For pads, I suggest trying EBC Green or searching around in the Suspension section for many, many threads about brake pads.

i bought slotted and dimpled, they look cool, keep the pads clean (read: go through them faster) and won't crack like cross drilled.

Blanks are really the best overall for street use. The only thing I dont like about blank rotors is they usually arnt zinc coated so they rust where the pads dont make contact.

I would go with a set of slotted just for the zinc coating. Cross drilled rotors will sometimes crack due to excessive heat or rapid change in temp.

My car has stock rotors that I cross drilled and counter drilled .They have been turned once and have no cracks after 90 k miles . The rotors have 134 k total . I had the top hats power coated so they show no rust .With the 929 master cylinder they stop very well .The pads are green stuff and do not show much dust .

you can also try MMC (Metal Matrix Ceramic) or something like that. Sport Compactd car used them on their project RX7, They didn't fade at all. They were able to withstand a much greater degree then any other rotor/pad combination

It makes no sense why you'd want anything other than blanks for the street. If you must have non-black rotors for the street then your money would probably be better spent first on some underbody neon.

i have known guys who track cars to have slotted rotors crack on them as well. as for normal street driving, i don't see how you'd ever have a problem with them except maybe eating up your brake pads a little faster.

They ended up cracking. And then a Honda-oriented tuning company bought the company that was developing the brake kit with MMC rotors for the RX-7 and further development of the kit was stopped.

If I were to do anything other than bolt on new stock replacement rotors (making sure they aren't Chinese cast iron) would be to buy solid Brembo rotors and have them crogenically treated. I'm all about the performance of my brakes. This doesn't mean I won't take the time to make them look decent, but I'm almost anti-bling.

most if not all rx7 parts places sell rotors, I bought my brembos on ebay
