Sleep/all:
I assume the pic opf the red car next to the cop car is what we're talking about... look how low the front is compared to the rear. Eibachs are too low in the front IMO, and not enough in the rear... when I had them, i ran them on the highest perch up front (koni), and the middle perch in the rear to attempt to even the car out... and I could even have used the lower perch in the rear. When I went to GC's, I set the front fender heights 1/4" higher in the front than before, and almost 3/4" lower in the rear, and the rears are still 1/4" higher!! (note I also have taller wheels in the back too). IMHO, this is the problem w/ the Eibachs, and the cause of alot of front end rubbing when using them... note the RBs only lower the front .65", and the rear more like 1.35". Originally posted by SleepR1 Hmm, howard coleman thought Eibach Pro Kit springs would work well. I'm surprised you're getting some rubbing. According to howard coleman, the Eibachs should be a conservative drop with about 350 lb/in spring compression rate? I have H&Rs. Perhaps the H&Rs are stiffer in spring rate after all, since I've had no rubbing problems with 9 x 17, 45-mm offset with 255/40-17, nor with 9.5 x 17 Pirelli P6000s, 42-mm offset with 275/40-17 Hoosier R3S03s up front? |
If that's the case I may change to the RB's in the near future. I do like how low the car is, but if the RB can get me the same handling characteristics without the rubbing, I'll probably switch. I'll see what happens when I move my battery first though because its the left side that rubs anyways.
|
I thought the RBs were great w/ R1 shocks.
FWIW, even with the taller 235/45/17 tires, the drivers-side front fender on my car was only 24.625" off the ground w/ the Eibachs. while the passenger rear was 25.625 w/ 275/40/17 (and using middle koni perch). If you don't have koni's, its even worse... Those heights just aren't right. Now i'm at 25" all around (or thereabouts, it isn't corner ballanced) w/ the GC's. |

Nice cars, Rage. Where was this pic taken. Backdrop looks rather "ritzy"?
http://i.myspace.com/12/69/549621/6093041_l.JPG I'm half expecting Jennifer Aniston to appear in the backdrop LOL :) https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...postid=2828312 |

Pretty front bumper. That's why mine is sitting in my storage room awaiting installation when I get back to SC.

the "gunmetal" that you guys are referring to...is that the "mercury silver"??
below is a pic with titanium silver on the left....mercury silver on the right. also...where did you guys order yours from? Macken? Importhookup? https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=2831355 |
Mercury Silver looks MUCH BETTER! Amazing how finish can make all the difference!
I think the gunmetal is Cossie's CE28N's color (almost a charcoal grey?) Does the Mercury Silver come with that cool "VR" center cap as standard? Can we get 9.5 x 18, 47-mm offset fronts and 10.5 x 18, 45-mm offset rears in Mercury Silver? This would the ultimate in rubber width for max contact patch (I said the dirty word..."contact patch" LOL :) ) |
I dont think mine is Mercury silver. My color is listed as gunmetal I believe.
|
You may have to get the LE-28s to get that color though. I'm not completely sure.
|
Ok, I got that pic from the S2000 forum where they had a group buy. I read the rest of the the thread.
Apparently, the LE28n comes in the GUNMETAL with polished lip. The mercury silver can NOT be put on the LE model, that is only available in the gunmetal (I think) and polished lip. They said specifically that the mercury silver was NOT an option for the LE series. However, someone mentioned previously that if we go with a "solid color" than those sizes, the 18x9.5f, 18x10.5r are available. MANNY! Let's group buy! I want to orders these ASAP:D |
I do know that you can get the bronze finish also with the le-28 because that was what I was deciding between.

Used to be that you could only get the CE28 in Mercury silver in the standard 8.5/9.5 combo becuse it was a "limited edition" color. That may have changed now.
The CE28s come in bronze, titanium silver (the flatter silver pictured above) and solid gunmetal (dark grey, like Cossies) All "LE" series volks are the ones with the polished lips... LE 28s are gunmetal, or titanium silver w/ polished lips. |
Ahh...well if Mercury Silver becomes available in the wider widths...well...we'll need to start up a group buy on those :)
|
damn!
ptrhahn is correct. I called a couple of dealers. The Mercury Silver is NOT available in the 10.5 size...it would be a special order run that would need 10 orders minimum! I might have to pull the "jimlab" and get a polish or custom finish after purchasing the wheel...or look for other wheels....Man this sucks....after finally deciding on the wheels I wanted :( |

I have after market trailing arms and coilovers. Also, what option do you have to specify to get the spokes to "reverse bow" like that? Lower pad height??? I might have to order these...someone photoshop the above car to IBM please:D ...wonder if +38 will fit without rolling or rubbing...haha yeah right |
Cool?

Alright. Time to bring this back from the dead. I'm getting new wheels :).
