Stance GR+ vs Tein Flex
Searched, couldnt find a whole lot of anything about Stance. The car is a 94 Touring. Wont see a whole lot of track, but gets a bit of spirited driving through mountains and stuff. Mainly looking for something good all around for a daily car, minor track use, and a bit of mountain driving. I heard the Flex are good all around coilovers. Let me know your opinions.

Can't go wrong with either...I would lean toward the stance since it is a little newer.
I just got a set of Stance GR+ from Rishie at AutoRND and I love them. They are suprisingly comfortable on the street and absorb bumps and road imperfections really well. I have only really been out driving once since I installed them but I did get a chance to run some back roads and from what I can tell they are an outstanding coilover for the money. I highly recommend them :icon_tup:

Good to know. JhnRx7 have you ever rode in a FD with Teins? If so how does it compare? I understand the stances are newer but sometimes the newer stuff isnt always the better stuff. Also what about the Stance being mono and the Teins not? Does that make a difference to anybody not on a track? Im new to this coilover thing lol. I came from a WS6, its a bit different.

id say go with what has proven to work
I would base my decision on how accessible to a rebuild they are and spring rates.
both rebuilable in the unit states, both have about the same turn around time on the rebuild. Spring rates are close, tein is 12/10 and stance is 12/12. i was thinking go with what has been proved. Tein i hear ALOT of good stuff about, but on other sites im seeing stance come up quite a bit. Thats whats making me wonder.
I think you will be happy either way. I have ridden in an FD with Tein Flex however they had led a hard life and were on their way out, if not blown already. The owner had good things to say though.
You can get whatever spring rate you want with the Stance, you just need to specify. I got 12F 10R. I had previously had The Pettit TrackPro Stage III's which are also 12/10 however they were not monotube like the Stances. I found that having both back to back the Stances are more comfortable on the street. It really all depends on the valving of the shock. IMO you cant go wrong either way. |
AutoRND sells and has experience with both. He will be a good person to talk to.
They're both great coilovers. I would say that the Flex are geared a little bit more for street driving, while the GR+ are geared a little bit more for track driving, but they're both great dual-purpose coilovers, no doubt.
I had Flex before and I was very happy with them but it is hard when there is no one that had them both to compare. If both are very similar then price would be the deciding factor.
lol some say tein is more gear toward street and some say the stance are more for street lol. man its a toss up. Stance gr+ Pros are like $200 less than the teins. thats a helping factor.
Stance doesn't offer anything like edfc. Dealbreaker.
lol not sure how much im going to be changing the settings on the shocks. dont think it makes the edfc a necessary piece of equipment for me. although i have thought about it.
Had EFFC and I really didn't use it.
Why don't you look at the pettit trak pros?

I have no complaints with my gr+. The ride is pretty comfortable at 25% from full soft even with the standard 12k/12k springs.
your car is what actually got me thinking stance, because of the stance lol. sharp car man.
I think, in a situation such as this, you should flip a coin.
Just go with the GR+, they're cheaper and right on par with the Flex, so you can't go wrong.
Im running the Stance coilovers, I cant compare to the tien but I really like the way the car handles and reacts on the street and through the twistie roads
I like the flip a coin idea. Heads Tein, Tails Stance. Heads won it guys. Tein it is. End of thread lol. Wonder if thats as simple as it really should be...
Well, seeing as how they are both quality coilovers with good reputations, easy to have rebuilt, not a giant price difference in the scheme of things, what else do you have to go off? I mean, does one have a color you prefer or that matches your car better?
