I'm just having issues trying to justify cramming all that 275 on a 9" wheel.

a slightly lower offset would be good.

just for reference, i'm using 17x8.5 +17 front with 225/45/r17 and 17x9.5 +27 rear with 255/40/17. 3-piece panasport wheels !

I'm sure i can easily fit 275 in the rear. be sure to roll fenders. maybe even pull them.

bcool 03-27-06 12:04 AM

I know i'm going to have to roll, i just dont want to jump all the way to stretching them out just yet.

bcool 03-27-06 09:15 AM

Alright, i bought the wheels:

17x8 +35mm (i bought 5mm spacers for them as well)

17x10 +25

Now on to dumping money into tires.

And your shameless self promotion belongs in here WHY?

rxobsessed 03-27-06 09:04 PM

Hello all,

A noob here. However, I have been reading a lot.

I am looking to upgrade the looks of my 91 vert. I am looking at getting a set of 18" HP Evo's (7.5" Front +38, 8.5"Rear +38 offset or 8"Front, 9"Rear same offset). From reading previous posts I know that the 8" will not fit up front w/o coilovers.

Well, here's my question.
What would be the best wheel/tire choice and suspension set-up considering the following factors? (1 being the most important)
1a) looks - I dont want the wheels to poke out
1b)ride height adjustment (I want to go low where the wheels just tuck perfectly under/at the fender with no negative camber)
2a) price 2b) durability 2c) I want it to "feel right"

I am just going crusing in this car but I do want to "push it" sometimes. This is not a daily driver. I am not going the mod anything else.

Actually, these are equally important to me so I cannot easily list one factor as more important than the other. Please help!

Anyone?

rxobsessed 03-27-06 09:39 PM

Oops! I forgot that this was just the fitment thread-- Let me rephrase that question.--- Can I get the look I want with the 8" +38 offset with coilovers or should i opt for the 7.5"+38. I really want the 8" rim because i would have the option of choosing the RPM 505 or HP Evo wheel.

if you read my post, you would have known...
just wanted to show how it turned out, since you guys all talk about numbers but dont show what i really looks like! and that's what the people want to see

ok the specs are a bit overdone...

Black91n/a 03-27-06 11:37 PM

Furb: Yea, my point wasn't about the thanks, but about the shameless self promotion with way more information and pictures than were needed to give feedback about your setup. If you really want to show off your car you should start another thread rather than hijacking this one.

rxobsessed: You can run 8" wide wheels in the front, but a 38mm offset won't fit. You'll need something closer to ~35-30mm. I've got 17x8's with a 30mm offset and 225/45/17's and they fit perfectly, no rubbing and it looks nice and aggressive with the wheels pushed out about as far as they can go, and there's not much room between the wheel and pring either. Running a 7.5" wide you can get away with a few mm more offset. Most people who put 225's on the stock TII wheels (16x7, 40mm offset) get rubbing up front, so you'll definetely need a small spacer for the fronts with a 38mm offset with either a 7.5" or an 8" wheel.

Nice set-up, but did the 8,5", +38mm actually fit up front without spacers???

rxobsessed 03-28-06 09:31 AM

Thanks Black91. This decision is killing me. I feel that the addition of spacers might push the wheel out too far for my taste.

Furb's RX with the +38 offset wheels is encouraging though.

thanks

the wheels are 40mm offset, but rubbed against the shocks, so i put on a 2mm spacer to clear that...

RETed 03-28-06 10:23 AM

Oh wait, didn't see the part about coilovers. :P

I'm going to have to wait till the end of the month for my 5zigen shipment to come in, 5zigen kept reccomending i go with a +35 offset with the 17x10's anybody have exprience with this? From how it sounded it seemed like the +25 offset was going to be getting close to things back behind there. RETed, think theres any chance of getting the 245/40 to fit in the front with a +25 offset with the fenders rolled? Just some changeup questions i have.

Yeah, I dunno how a 10.0", +35 is going to fit back there.
A 9.0", +35 is already damn tight!
FD wheels with 225 / 50 / 16 is damn tight!
And FD wheels are 8.0", +50...

Are we talking about a 8.0" wide wheel up front?
I think it'll fit with some fender rolling...

-Ted

bcool 03-31-06 07:17 PM

Yeah i'm just gonna stick with the +35mm with a 5mm spacer for the 17x8's in the front and the +25 in the rear. Thanks for all the help ted.

Mordachai 04-02-06 05:45 PM

Hmmm, read a few pages, but there's just too many....
and I still might not get my answer.

I have some used 17x7.5+40 and the tool that put the rubber on put 205/40 on front and 215/40 on back.
IT's lame and crappy, but the price was right....

I currently am running 215/40 and 235/40 on another set of 17x7.5 +38 on the car now. and I think they're a bit too skinny also, but nothing rubs!!!

can I go 225/40 up front and clear everything?( on a 17x7.5+40 wheel)

maybe 255/40 in back or would 245/40 be better? (also on a 17x7.5+40)

OMGWTHFBBQ 04-03-06 10:52 PM

does anybody run Skyline R33 wheels on their car?
Theyre 17x 9 +33 iirc, offset is in the low 30's for sure
how well would these fit?

SMonty 04-03-06 11:17 PM

What is the widest tire I could run in the back on a r16x10 +35 mm offset and will this rim fit well? I would like at least a 275. the wider the better. it for drag racing. Suggestions on rim size are more than welcome.

Fits in the rear fine, but it will not fit up front.

Mordachai 04-04-06 06:18 PM

ok, so can I fit 255/40HR17 on the back.

I don't want to buy them if they won't fit............ without clearance mods...

|M|

Cobra_R 04-05-06 12:05 AM

anyone know if these will fit.....
16x8, unknown offset, 225/50/r16 in front
16x9, unknown offset, 225/45/r16 in the back

clubber 04-05-06 12:49 AM

With an unknown offset, no one knows if they will fit. There are many possible bad combos and a few that will work.

Are the 255 / 40 / 17 even recommended for just a 7.5" width?

At the very least can you measure backspace?
Flip the wheel over and slap a piece of wood across the back.
Measure from the piece of wood to the center hub and give us the measurement?

And...

If those specs are right, WTF would you want to run smaller tires in the back???
You sure it's not a 245 / 45 / 16?
