Need 11" width rims, who makes them?
I'll be looking for a set of rims, 11" wide at the rear, most likely an 18" diameter. I'm not interested in dropping $2K per wheel for something like HRE's, iForged, etc...I've noticed NONE of the 1 or 2 piece cast or forged rims come in anything wider than 10.5. I did take a look at J Line wheels and as of right now they're in the lead. Any others out there that I'm not thinking of? Thanks!

What is J line ? Try Forge Line, they're relatively inexpensive and pretty strong.

Lots of choices in 3 piece. Check out Fikse, Kinesis, and CCW. Prices each are roughly $475-500 for CCW, $1,000 for Fikse and $1,100 for Kinesis.
I've 18x11" Kinesis on the rear. It's a tough fitment with stock width fenders. You'll need to remove the fender lips and utilize 2.5" springs and tubular trailing arms. Offsets should be +48 to +51. No more, no less. Gene |
My votes for CCW :D

Go carbon fiber.
http://www.autovelocityinc.com/wheels.htm The spokes are custom, so you send them the design you want. http://www.accuratetechnologies.com/...nWheel_Blk.jpg |
I can only imagine how much those carbon rims are....BST carbon rims for my bike were around $3K for TWO!
I've pretty much settled on either the J Lines or the CCW's. I'd rather be closer to $500 a wheel than $1000. Going widebody (FEED or RE-A ADGT) so no worries on fitment. I believe it's 10 or 10.5 up front and 11 to 12 at the rear. Wanted to do 11.5x19 but that tire isn't out yet according to CCW. J Line wheels- They've been featured on just about every magazine cover over the past year. http://www.jlinewheels.com/ I looked at the Work wheels but I didn't see any in an 11" width. Same for Volks and Advan rims. They all go out to 10.5 but not 11's. I plan on using a 305/30/18 tire, probably the new Azenis 615's when they're released in that size this fall. |
Michel...take a look at this. (Kinesis wheel)

Les Wong is running the Work Termist S1 C in size 18 x 11.5 in the rear.

Hmm...
Have you tried: OZ Wheels - Super Legerra 3 piece forged (available in 18 inch...but does not indicate width) http://www.ozracing.com/oz2005/index...tto&wcard=5001 http://www.ozracing.com/oz2005/shared/wheels/5001ab.jpg |
Work - XSA - 02C (These are pricey...)

BTW...did you want a lip or no lip?

I'm not super picky...I do need caliper clearance up front (AP 5200 13" kit). I guess I didn't check all the Work wheels, just a few. Any idea if the Termist TM1 comes in an 11" width? Sort of like my Volk SE37A's but with a lip. The VSXX is pretty nice (always liked them) and the XSA isn't too bad either...any idea on pricing for those puppies? Dom, you're the man!
That's quite scary regarding the HRE wheels...I know there's at least two different Corvette guys that run them at the NASA Florida events I shoot. One's a twin turbo Z06 jobbie and the other is a new C6. Makes me feel better about not being able to afford them :) I'm still going to take a hard look at the CCW rims. He can do the Motorsports Corsair in a street version (slightly thicker in the right places). The J Line 6RL3 is pretty damn sweet too...probably easier to clean than a mesh too! |
Work Meister S1 3P up to 18x15
Work Rezax 2 up to 18x13.5 Work IT-S Brombacher to 18x15 Fabulous Expand Racing to 18x11.5 TrafficStar DTS to 18x13 Theres a bunch more but start to get out of your price range Are you looking for a track wheel or a street wheel? |

I'm actually staying away from Volk. I purchased a set of SE37A's, 18x9.5 all around and they were about $570 a pop without shipping. I'd say the bright finish lasted about two months before they started to haze over and generally look like crap. Never washed them with anything but soap/water and dried them afterwards. They're still "bronze" but nowhere near as shiny as when new. Their anodizing process does not hold up. They should have been cleared. The GT line, they're all very heavy rims and honestly, there isn't one I really like that much.
I did contact Mackin Industries on two seperate occasions and sent them pictures. The initial response was that of interest which quickly faded to a zero reply policy. I'm under the assumption that if you pay $2300 for a set of rims, the finish lasts more than a few months. Rant mode off! But thanks for all the info guys and keep it coming! An 11 to 11.5" wide rim would take a 315 series tire, correct? |
I'd stick with Domestic brands for favorable customer support. John at CCW has an amazing turnaround time. I think it was 3 days door-to- door (I'm in Seattle, he's in Florida) when I need new wheel centers. Forgeline and Fikse are excellent in that regard as well.
Kinesis...well let's say "not so much". Bastards. Gene |
