If money wasn't a problem...what rims would you buy?

Post pics please:)

Fikse Profil 13s, Full Bling Bling Polish, 10 x 18 all around, 50-mm offset, with 285/30-18 Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrics @ each corner.

I'd convert to center-locking hubs (and have custom rotor hats machined to accept Porsche 911 Turbo ceramic composite rotors), and have a custom set of center-lock, magnesium BBS or Speedline wheels made in 18x9.5" front, 18x10.5" rear, in carbon-polish finish, and a have a lock nut wrench machined out of titanium for me like the one the McLaren F1 comes with.

Slidin FD 04-26-03 12:49 PM

That's easy.

I'd go with HRE 540R's all the way around. 10's in the back and 8.5's in the front. Powdercoated black with a polished lip all done by HRE. If I only had 6G's.

E6KT2 04-27-03 03:54 PM

Mazdaspeed MS magnesiums. Phat.

Reminds me of China's panda bear they sent to the Mexico City Zoo to impregnate 3 female bears, the bears all had to be artificially inseminated, China's bear was GAY! : ) LOL

I think 545R would best look on CYM. Classic 5 spokes design with deep dish... I can't wait to save up that 5g...Anyone got actual pics of 545R on Cym?

7racer 04-30-03 11:40 PM

19 x 10 - $1,763 ea.

Total: $6,812

SoCalLove 05-01-03 12:39 PM

18's bronze SE37A's for my VR FD. Actually, I almost have enough for them but I'm wondering if I should keep saving for the enevitable zoom zoom boom!

I'm gonna have to say HRE's too.

I love the 800 series...smooth lip...none of that classic 3-piece bolt look crap. I hate that

Is nothing sacred?:D

large_x7 05-01-03 09:30 PM

1. BBS RG-R
2. Volk GT-7 (gunmetal center, polished lip)
3. Fikse FM/10

not terribly expensive, only in the ~$2K/set range (not ~$2K/wheel like Jimlab's!)

LOSTinWANKELS 05-03-03 06:14 PM

I dunno Jim, i've never priced it, but i'll bet you could do my pie-in-the-sky center-lock setup (third post or so) for not much more than this... not including the Porsche ceramic-composite rotors of course, as those are likely 6k all by themselves.

overkill 05-03-03 06:53 PM

If money was not an issue, then I would take the stock rims on the Farrari 360 Modena. Of course the car would come with it.

But since money is an issue, I had these rims put on- as a matter of fact , I had then put on just a few hours ago! http://home.pacbell.net/sedchew/borbet_fd.jpg

There are a few options I'm thinkin about, but the 19" Brabus Monoblock VI 2-Piece is what I'm leanin' towards. Clean and classy...

http://www.a-motors.ru/img/cars/mercedes/brabus-k8.jpg

http://www.autoguide.ee/news/220202/brabus-e-01.jpg

HRE would pretty much be my top choice, but their styles are a little too sporty for a Mercedes-Benz, IMO. Most are too thinly-spoked for a larger car, and I don't think the 546/546Rs would look too good on an SL.

I would go dub-status, but even with 19s, I'll need some very low-profile tires (P295/30-19) in the back. With 20" tires, even the most low-profile ones out there are too big in diameter compared to the factory P285/35-18. Messing with tire diameters is NOT something I want to do, especially in a Benz with so many electronics working off the tire-speed.

Rhode_Dog 05-10-03 12:37 AM

A set of Fikse's like these would do nicely

http://www.fikse.com/raceblack.html

crazysuprakid 05-10-03 02:08 PM

I'd go with some HRE 540's in 18x10 and 18x11.

Work Meister 2SR's.. =P~~

Nathan Kwok 05-18-03 02:46 AM

I think I'd commission Volk to make a custom set of TE-37 mags, in, mmm, 17x9.5f 17x11r. In gunmetal. With the right offset for 2.5" springs so I can run nice, wide tires (can anyone say 275 front 315 rear?) With rolled fenders, M2 trailing arms, and 2.5" springs I think that might actually fit.

kyle@insight 05-23-03 01:32 AM

mmmm Advan Sienna II's.... My FD will be rockin those soon.
