FD3S Wheel setup advice on stock body & suspension

Hi all, so I have 2 wheels that I really want to run up front that are 17x7.5+42

I know, it’s half an inch smaller width than stock which sucks but I can still put a 225 tire on it which is what stock fitment has right?

Now the question is the rear, I want to get Kansei roku chromes but they only come in 18s. I’m ok with not rotating but is this ok? I know it’d be a staggered setup so would 18x8.5+35 fit in the rear? I could go wider than an inch but I feel like that would cause me to understeer like crazy no? Also I do make decent power to the wheels (I have mods and a tune).

So my potential setup on a stock non rolled fender body and stock suspension would be

17x7.5+42 front with 225 tire
18x8.5+35 rear with ? Tire

want to know two things. Would the rear fit and is this setup ok?

Thanks guys, I’m new to this wheel business but have tried to do as much research on the forums as possible. I will try to use the calculators pinned in the sticky when I have access to my laptop as I’m currently away.

P.S if anyone has some cool/unique or overall any chrome wheel suggestions let me know

fitment industries has a great library to see what different wheels and sizes look like on whatever chassis.

to answer your question, that double staggered sizing and with those specs will force the rapture. it will be horrendous. there is an extensive wheel fitment thread here on the forum that you should sift through and also go through the library on the fitment industries website. you will find what your are looking for. based on your description of things, i don't see how to make a recommendation on what you're trying to achieve since i can not discern WHAT it is you're trying to achieve.

I've heard that well-balanced cars behave weird staggered wheel widths. I can't imagine an RX7 would feel right with different diameter wheels front and rear. I like the idea of keeping the diameter and width close to stock and running sticky tires that warm up quickly for grip.

Yeah after some research I’m going to run 17x7.5+42 front and 17x8+35 rear. Really hoping the 7.5inch width up front will be ok on 225 tires.

what is your goal? the specs youre laying out are not good for what an aftermarket wheel costs. you could just stick with an oem wheel for what youre going for and save your money

I don't understand why you would run wheels with that fitment. Just not worth it no matter how cheap they are.
