apexi evx coilovers

i finished installing the apexi evx suspension on my fd yesturday, and drove the car on the highway and the streets and they felt way better than the suspension i previously had, tokico illuminas and pfs springs(fairly light springrate).

the apexi has 12kg springs (621lbs) and the heavy springrate does not really have any difference in the ride quality. after riding in a car that had the apexi's and also buddy clubs that had 10kg and 8kg (rear) i found that dampenning has more effect on ride quality than spring rate.

keep in consideration that i am driving around in northern new jersey streets where there are no flat surfaces and potholes every 10 feet.

many thanks to chuck from rotaryextreme for insisting that i wont have a problem with the spring rates.

No pillow *****, and it's fine because of the suspension geometry.

Don't need to use the rubber insulator.

Hello my new set of Apexì ExV are on travel to my home i will install i guess within 2 weak.
I will need your help to set this suspension, i will mantain the stock height of the car.
Is easy to set?? or i need the meccanic to test the suspension in order to have the same value on damping between the 2 front and the 2 rear.
Thanks to everybody

I have been thinking of running a set of these as well.

cmartinp28, you are right about the dampening have more of an effect on the ride quality. Having it to hard will make it jaw breaking to drive. I had various srping rates on my old FC and if it was setup properly you could not tell a difference from varing sets of 6,8, and 10kg.

the apexi settings brought the car about 1" from the tires ... i lowered each corner 4-8 full turns before i found a good ride height.

the driver side front was lowered the least, and the passenger side rear was lowered the most

Oh BTW does anyone know the spring ID?

And are these aluminum or steel, painted or powder coated, and are threads corrosion resistant?

To who have already the Apexì ExV:

What suggestion do you have for me that i have to mount in the next 2 weak????
Wich setting do you suggest for street use????
I want to mantain the stock height of the car.

There is some way to regulate the suspension in term of number?? ( i mean when yoyu set harder or softer, is easy to set both the front in the same value?? or i need the machine to test both suspension???)

You can change the value easy when you have build in?? i mean i just open the hood and change the setting???? or i have to disassembly the coilover????

Thanks and Best regards
Pietro

Setting of dampening depends on the person. Maintaining stock height is very possible with this suspension. When I put them on my car, I did not have to adjust the fronts because ride height was perfect. Setting them harder or softer on dampening is just preference, it does not make up for spring travel, springs rates, ect. All you have to do is pop the hood and turn them to adjust dampening. To change spring travel, which is not very recommended, you turn the top part of the coilovers. Ride height is adjusted by turning the bottom part of the coilovers.

Thanks you very much for reply.
You answered most of my question exept one:
How i know if both thr front suspension are in the same value???
If i have one suspension harder and the other softer when i brake the car will be lower in one side and will have the tendency to turn on that side.
May be my english is not so good aso i have to explain in poor word (because i don't know other)but did you understand what i mean???

Thanks anyway you was very helpfull

you would know the value by... turning both all the way to one side and start counting the number of clicks.... it is 32 way adjustable

the dampenning adjustment does not change the ride height, you have to manually get underneath the car to do that.

Typically you'd wanna start at the hardest.

I really do not think that it would be mandatory to start from hardest and go to softest. The way I measure which click I am at, I start from hardest then go to softest.
