Advan Siena Gen II's question

OK boys, I believe these are the wheels I am going to get for my car. I think I have finally found someone willing to work with me and obtain them.

Now, I was thinking of 18x9 +45 all around but in looking at those and the Volk GT-U on the limited cars out there (via online) I'm afraid of getting something without a lip. When the face is a "high disk" setup it rounds out and is not as appealing IMO as one with a bit of a lip and set in. My worry is the 18x9 +45 may not provide much of a lip, this isn't a problem for the front, but it would definitely look odd in the back to me. I have seen the staggered 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 and like there look, in fact SUPER 7 FD had these rims in 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 if you search on his name. My worry is the only offset available for the 9.5 width is +38. SUPER 7 FD is no longer around to speak about fitment so my question is, do you think this will be acceptable for the rear? His car was "slammed" and the wheels tucked underneath. His style isn't my cup of tea but the fitment has to be constant and acceptable I would think.

Thoughts and insight are very much appreciated.

"18 sizes vary from $700-800.
"19 sizes vary from $800-900.

The prices are per-wheel, no tire, and do not include the cost of shipping.

Did I miss that part? No.

I realize how difficult it is to mount wheels on a car, and that the car must be running to take pictures of it..

I haven't had time to work on it. When I am able to do anything, it will be get it running not swapping on some wheels without tires and taking pics.

Sienna G2s in 18x9 +45 are not high disk - they're regular disk:

Are you asking if 18x9.5 +38 will fit in the rear (yes), or if having the same amount of lip front and rear would look funny (purely subjective)?

http://myautofashion.com/ in Torrance, CA has consistently provided the best quotes, and I've bought from them my last two sets (a set of Gewalts and a set of Sebrings) of the four sets I've had. Hiro is the owner and a very nice guy.

edit: I hate frames:

I thought I had it right, but I must be wrong...now I am confused dclin.

What is the best fitment then for a rim with lip but most importantly width? Since I started this thread I have decided to go 18x9 +45 in front...18x10 +45 in rear but I guess that won't work? Don't think that +45 front will clear the brakes?

Size and offset wise, 18x9 +45 and 18x10 +45 is a great fitment. Remember too that tire size choice is the 'last mile' for fit, and the wrong chioce in tires sizes can create problems. A good choice is 245/35/18 front and 285/30/18 rear, though 255/35/18 in front should work as well.

I've got Sebring ITC-SDs in 19x9 +45 (reg disk) and 19x10 +45 (reg disk) right now, but have not gotten to mounting the tires yet (going to paint wheel centers). Previous sizes I've had were SSR Decolte (multi-piece - Adam Sawuratari's old wheels) 18x8.5 +40 (high)/18x9.5+43 (low), Borbet TD 18x9 +42 (VERY low hehe) all four corners, and Gewalt Evolution 18x8.5+44 (reg)/18x10+44 (reg). All four sets have cleared the US spec front calipers.

As for caliper clearance - if you have stock US spec brakes, *most* disk 'heights' should clear. Disk clearance is not a by-product of offset in multi piece wheels. Usually (again, only talking about multi piece wheels), a wheel manufacture designs two or more disk height centers and then 'attaches' different rims in different places to create a range of offsets. So offsets are typically independent of disk heights in multi piece wheels.

For single piece wheels (monoblock) the disk clearance is up in the air, and may or may not be related to offset, depending on the designer. A designer could start off with a basic spoke/rim design and simply add to the pad height to effectively change the offset, with the by-product being a direct change in disk clearance (1mm change in offset equals 1mm of disk height). I'm guessing this may be true of the cheap brands, but I do know that most single-piece Rays wheels (Volk, etc) have offsets independent of disk height (they design wheels allowing for a range of disk heights AND offsets, with offsets often overlapping).

Attached is a pic of my old Borbet TDs with massive lip (and very low caliper clearance). Clearance is a model design specific thing, so there are no gaurantees (or standards) that even if one low disk 'height' wheel clears your front calipers, another low disk version of another wheel can as well. For the most part though, my experience is that most will clear the stock calipers. If you have (or plan) brake upgrades, such as the '99 spec RZ/RS or aftermarket, go with a high disk up front.

In the case of the Sienna G2's, I'd do 18x9 +43 (high disk) front and 18x10 +45 (reg disk) rear just to be safe. Would really suck if you ordered if from Japan and it did not clear, though (not preferable) you could put a 5mm (or whatever is needed) wheel spacer to clear the calipers (turning a 18x9 +45 into 18x9 +40 effective in this example). Need to have new, longer studs pressed into the hub, so a bit of a pain. And definitely stick to 245/35s up front if this should ever happen.

Hmm, ok, does not let me attach a pic - here it is off my photo album:

I notice none of my Advan links worked as well. Go to http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan/top.jsp and dig around - the wheel sizes/offset chart is in there some where.
