88 RX-7 Needs Struts
I own a 1988 GXL with 100K miles on it. It needs new struts. The dealer is quoting about $1,000 to replace them with the OEM struts.
Are there any cheaper alternatives? I would do it myself, but it looks like I need a hydraulic press to compress the springs. Any suggestions out there? |
I would suggest that you search the 2nd gen section as well as in this section (as this is a VERY frequent topic). Use keywords such as shocks/struts, etc.
Also, look into AGX shocks. That should help you. |
Does anyone know which aftermarket struts will be compatible with the auto adjust suspension system on the 88 GXL?
|
None. You get rid of that shit and buy KYB AGX struts. Basically just unbolt the actuator from the top and remove the suspension.
AGX's are manual adjustable and give you 4 settings up front and 8 in the rear. These can run you around $400.00 or slightly less for the whole set. These are great struts. Rishie |
