No there is not, but if you get hooked up with some guys on here there are about 6 FD owners that I know from Tulsa (I live there when Im not in school and my FD does too). PM ApneaBlue or post in the regional section.

Having been to Rob's shop, I can certainly state he has a large selection of parts. He fixed me up with a second gen crossmember/tranny mount assy, and a first gen crossmember, so I can modify as needed to fabricate a mount for my car. I have a first gen, with a second gen tranny, that is not fully mounted in the rear. Having both style transmissions stockpiled assisted in determining what I would need to fabricate this unigue mount.
Nice guy, really seems to know what he is talking about. I will not hesitate to contact him again, should I need any assistance in the future.

Need rebuild in Tulsa

Anyone know of any shops that will rebuild a 13b GSL-SE engine, and do it right, and for a decent price?

By about october i should have a lot of extra cash that I will be sitting on, and I dont know if I should just rebuild, or buy a new motor from Mazdatrix or something. I will have about 1800 bucks or so, so I would only be able to get a Class A rebuilt engine from Mazdatrix, and I don't know if it would be cheaper to just have it rebuilt, rather than ordering a rebuilt from Mazdatrix.

Even with rebuilding the engine you might expect it to need some new parts. As a point of reference, in February 2001 I broke an apex seal in my GSL-SE. Fortunately it was four laps after I passed a Camaro on the little infield course at Texas Motorspeedway. I had Rotary Performance (Garland, TX) do a rush job on my engine so I could start the autocross season in March. It cost me about $3000 to have them build, run in, and tune my engine. They don't work on 1st gen cars any longer but that may help you budget for your engine.

The flip side is now I'm rebuilding that engine myself after it spun a bearing. I bought two engines, one that runs and one that doesn't. With the non-running engine and the engine with the spun bearing I hope to have enough parts to build another spare engine. Three engines, one running plus two busted engines, might equal two running engines after many hours of blood, sweat and beers and about $1000 in seals, bearings and other miscellaneous parts. It's not a difficult job, just time consuming and it does require a great amount of attention to detail.

Rob's at RR is a cool dude. I am sure he can hook you up with whatever. I know his prices are super reasonable. He just swapped out a ProjecD's cluth for around $200...That's aweseom. I know he also sorted out some electrical issues for Benzalee.....That and he's a good guy from the few times I have met him.

I have not talked to Rob in a couple months, so I hope the contact info is still correct.
Misthael, didn't Rob rebuild your engine earlier this year?

Yeah. Just the rebuild was $900. I got a new clutch and he machined the flywheel for an extra 50.

Rob knows his **** man. He has done plenty of work on my car (93 automatic touring) and I have had almost no problems with it. He rebuilt my engine, found a guy to straighten my subframe that I bent, upgrade my tranny and all sorts of stuff. If you've got question he's probably got an answer. good prices to!

Need a mechanic in tulsa

Ok, so on my way back to tulsa from norman I started having issues with my car. I think I've narrowed it down to either my ignition system or something in my carb.

Every mechanic I've talked to said they won't work on a rotary or a carb, so can anyone recommend someone in tulsa that can check my car to find out where the problem lies?

No recommendations on a mechanic?

I'll keep trying, but it seems like everyone hates imports and carbs.

Don't know anyone that works on rotaries in the tulsa area. Prolly why many of the locals call me when they need assistance.
Their are a couple shops that supposedly specialize in the rotary, but I haven't ever had any work done by them.

I called a place called super wrench that my friends use, they lost their rotary specialist recently and gave me the number of the place he works at now.

It's called surf side imports or something like that.

There is a rotary mechanic and parts shop in Tulsa, guy named Rob is running it last I heard a year or two ago. Scroll down to a post by "rotary resource" in this link, he has a little blurb about the kind of work they do and contact info.
