This a time to get 3 30 minute track sessions with your car and they feed you!!! All for $75!!!

I am going, another buddy with a 1st gen is going, Scott (7dust) is going, John Doss (compression tester guy) expressed interest..... Rx7 Nut..... you going???

It will be fun!!!

Here is the link!! http://www.msrhouston.com/events/red-meat-and-race-fuelhttp://www.msrhouston.com/events/red-meat-and-race-fuel

TwistedRotors 08-18-11 11:00 AM

Yeah, I'll go. Don't think I'll be racing but I'll provide moral support (and compression tests) to those who are. Chuck, RX7Nut, must go or my life will not be complete.

lol compression tester dude haaha john your famous.

7dust 08-18-11 04:47 PM

If you're going to the track - be sure to RSVP with MSR.

If you're going to watch only - RSVP and its only 5 bucks.... but they feed you dinner too so maybe all in all not a bad deal.

7dust 08-18-11 04:51 PM

Oh yeah - two of the sessions are open lapping sessions. You can run your street car on the track.

The last session is a bracket race session and its wheel to wheel racing. Your car must be race prepped. I'm planning on having at least one of the Lemons hauled to the track and run that.

Negative my semi-gay buddy!!!! You get 3- 30 minute open lapping sessions!!!!
I plan on prepping my 1st gen in the future for the bracket race!!!!!

Chuck said he is going....but pooning out and not racing.... You two can help to keep up with timing our laps..... Scott (fagboy) has called me out and David....my friend in the MR 2 must go down!!!! I need some good timing to settle the "calling out"

technomentor 08-19-11 11:15 AM

I did one of these late last year. It was a blast. Nothing like finding out what speed the FD can reach in the back stretch and of course learning that you're not as good as a driver as you think you are :) (Which one learns when they get lapped by a spec Miata)

Hopefully they hold another one of these in September when I am back from Thailand.

They will be having them twice a month through October.

Hey I see you are from Lake Jackson.... that is where I live!

Brent Dalton 08-24-11 05:19 PM

Looks like a fun time. I just moved to TX. You guys will def. be seeing me at the track next year. Look forward to meeting you guys.

BTW Technomentor, looks like you've got a good stable of FD's. ;)

^^^ When I was passing that 350Z, I looked up and saw you taking the video! :D

The bracket race was really fun and it will be even more fun next time since I understand how it works on a road course.

7dust 08-26-11 12:37 AM

Oh yeah - its too bad you didn't get any video of Cuba.

I guess its understandable since he drives like a girl - and you're not set up for time lapse photography.

Umm, look who's talking. Are you the dude with the ridiculous yellow LS1 FD, among others?? Man I'd love to see it -- didn't know you were in TX.

I went to law school in Waco and go back occasionally. I'd love to swing by some time.

How fast were you getting on the straightaways? which track layout was that? the nascar?

7dust 08-26-11 04:16 PM

^^^ Clockwise full track at MSR. Car was running 1:59

Speedometer is broken but getting way up top in 4th gear on a T2 transmission / rear end.

Tires are 225/45/17

My inner GPS is telling me I was cooking along somewhere in the low 100's. Whatever Cuba says he was going... but faster. :D

7dust 08-26-11 04:20 PM

Oh yeah SOMEONE told me that the MSR tack is on a video game out there somewhere.

Anyone know which one it is???

Hi Stephen,
haha... I sold Richard(technomentor) an FD several years ago that I ended up picking back up from him a few years back. He's good people.

I just arrived here in the great state of TX, but am leaving for a little while due to "work" ;). I'll be back next year though. I'll def. be at the track. I'm hoping they open up the new F1 track to track day groups after the first F1 race is complete there.

hey 7dust, let me know if you find out what video game has it. I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.

DUDE!!!! I pulled a 1:59 just like you did and that was the first time I ever drove that car on that track with last years wore out tires!!!!!.....oh and only a 100 HP 12a!!

My new F-150 handles better than that pink car!!!

I was pulling 102 MPH calculated by RPM.... 4th gear....tire size...... 6500 RPM 4th gear.... But since my car actually handles and actually has brakes.... I was able to stay in the gas wayyy into the turn at diamond....

You are prolly pulling 105-107 MPH..

Oh geez, Brent I'm not sure your kind is welcome here lol. Well big brother I never wanted, I'm assuming you are moving here cause you missed me right  Anywho welcome to Texas man, glad to have you around again. Hopefully by the time you get back from your "trip" I'll be able to afford some track days again :)

technomentor 08-29-11 10:18 AM

Thanks Brent and welcome to Texas. Things have changed since the days of my BB R-1, and the SSM that I parted out and used to fix your old car. I'm fortunate to have a very understanding wife (who now loves driving the CYM). Once your back from "work," if you make it down to MSR Houston let me know. I'll see what I can do to hook you up with a place to stay. Lake Jackson is about 20 minutes south of MSR.

I've watched the build up of your CYM and the track vids and love to see the car in action. Your welcome to use my shop in case it is needed.

Now you can say, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could." :)

By "full track" do you mean the 1.3mile Lemons Loop? Or the whole entire 2.38mile?

The only time the smaller loop was actually used was the very first lemons race at msr like 3 years ago... and it sucked.

They did run the smaller loop the first two Lemons races (we didn't run the first one).

Picture 150 cars AND a chicane slowing everyone down even more... I bet 1:59 would have been a good time - even for half track!

LMFAO...I was just trying to make sure I knew what you were talking about...1:59 on the full track is (would've been) truely impressive.

Ehhhh...I think my camo looks better than yours...maybe I should repaint yours? LOL>

7dust 08-29-11 04:26 PM

^^^ Fuck that shit. FREEHAND CAMO FTW!!! :D

1:59 is the best time for the Pink Lemon... Someone ran that at the last Lemon Race in it (prolly me cause I'm just a badass like that) and I did it a few more times at Red Meat.

Now, we expect better times from the Camo Lemon. It has about 600lbs less shit on it and a better exhaust. Last dyno we had it on put it about 40 hp over the pink one. - of course that was on the last motor that blowed up real good. :)

Supposedly we are taking the Lemon out again to Red Meat on the 8th too now.... going to try and get the Camo Car out this time if we can get the bugs worked out before the race in October.

Looks pretty good for free-hand...even with your niblet of an arm. LOL...jp.

Damn...600lbs...wtf did y'all take out?

Good to see that you are actually out there doing something in a 7....unlike me, just sitting at home staring at mine.

7dust 08-29-11 05:14 PM

^^^ Why don't you put down the Cheetos if you want some real weight reduction??? :D

I'm talking about 600 lbs of crap (give or take) installed in the pink car:

- 900 watt gasoline generator
- 1 Gallon fuel in generator above
- Two Air Actuators for Air Brake
- Two 1 gallon air compressors
- Air Brake assempbly including metal framework, 1/3 sheet of 1/2" plywood
- Probably 100 feet of air hose :)
- Erroneous surge protectors / electrical wiring
- Air Horns
- Moonshine Still and condensing coil
- Margarita Machine consisting of 5 gallon cooler and 1/3 hp garbage disposal
- 10 lbs of ice in margarita machine at all times for cool shirt use
- 1 gallon sump and pump for cool shirt use
- Probably 30 lbs of tubing welded in to hold margarita machine
- Old Smokey Barbecue Grill
- Tractor muffler with rain cap
- 10 lbs of gauges to monitor pork rib temperature, moonshine mash - temperature, air pressure for air brake
- plenty of stuff left over from failed experiments - SCUBA tank bracket etc... :)
- heater core on roof for cooling plus extra water volume / hose
- you get the idea?

^^^ Oh yeah - still ran a 1:59
Cause I rock and the car hauls balls - even though it handles like ass.

If you want to do something in a 7 - come race with us fool.
