Thanks for the dealer info but when I went by there they said it would be about a three week waiting period because they only have one guy that works on anything this old and I would have to leave it with them and not just make an appointment to bring it in. I got the feeling they didn't want to work on my car.

I can't send you a pm due to not enough posts yet. My car is a 87 na that I just put a 88 motor in. The problem I'm having is a knocking under hard acceleration. It starts up fine and so far has never flooded. It idles a little ruff but not bad at all. When I installed the engine it had about 35000 miles on a rebuild. I changed the fuel pulsation dampener and I had to change the ecu because the old engine had low imped. fuel injectors and the new one has high imped. I have also installed a Racing Beat downpipe and presilencer and a Borla cat back exhaust. If you have any thoughts on the cause of the knocking please let me know. Thanks

That's so argh...You need to call or write Mazda and report them. As a Mazda dealer they can make an appointment. You don't need to leave it there
for 3 weeks.. or you should not have to leave it there unless it's in service.
They don't deserve to be called a Mazda service center with that kind of b.s.
I can understand having a go to guy. Oh well fk them they dont' deserve your money. How does he know you won't buy a new Mazda? I would ask for the dealership GM and tell them how much they blow.

Yeah thats kind of how I feel, FKem! I can find a real rotary guy to fix it. I can drive it like it is but I really want it right. I would rather have someone working on my car that really likes the rotary engine and not just because he works at Mazda and has to do it. I was thinking about taking off all the fuel injection and going to carbs. I had a 80 7 that was carb and it never gave me a problem. I dont know about fuel injection and fuel mgnt systems or tuning so I think I would be able to do repairs a little easier if I went to carbs. Whats your thoughts on that?

Shops near New Orleans?
I live in Mandeville La. (close to New Orleans) and have been trying to find a rotary mechanic. I have been looking on the south forum but I have not found anyone remotely close. I have tried several repairs suggested by people here but I couldn't get it running right and now it won't start at all. I just need someone with rotary knowledge to fix it. I am thinking about towing it to Atlanta , I know of three shops there but thats about 8 hrs away. I like this car and want to keep it rotary. Please let me know of any shops that may be able to help. I have a 87 RX7 na stock with racing Beat downpipe and Borla Cat Back. Thanks
go to www.myspace.com/iceblueperformance the shop is in pensacola
Jonathan figured out the problem in about thirty min.. He really knows his stuff. If you need a rotary guy near New Orleans He is your best bet. Besides that he's a cool dude.
Go to his profile and look for PM or MAIL link, and also look at his friends. Do the same for them for a contact.

Anybody know a rotary mechanic near New Orleans?
I'm in Mandeville, Louisiana, close to New Orleans, and I've been struggling to find a mechanic to work on my 1987 RX7 NA. I've heard about Cat 5 Motorsports in Houma, but that's a two-hour drive from my location. If you know of any mechanics closer to Mandeville or New Orleans who specialize in this, I'd greatly appreciate the recommendation!
